If I'm not mistaken, isn't part of the reason Palin is such a popular governor in Alaska because she and the state legislature have enacted a windfall tax on the profits of the oil companies, which will return about $2K to each state resident this year?
How is that not "sharing the wealth" (i.e., 'socialism'), then?
If anyone can reasonably explain the difference to me I am happy to listen.

I cannot help you with that because it's my understanding that Alaska is our biggest welfare state. I guess that's why the governor is a maverick?

My understanding is that "windfall" is a bit of a misnomer as this tax is actually permanent. I don't think that helps her cause though.
I am also not sure that Documad means by "biggest welfare state" Can you elaborate?
