They should announce this type of thing! I nearly turned up for somewhere an hour early!

I almost had this problem a few weeks back ... luckily I turned on the tv and noticed the programming was out...initially I thought it was just the channel but after I changed channels and noticed the same thing I started to wonder and subsequently found it out.
I guess putting it on the tv news, calendars, newspapers isn't really enough and the gov't should come up with a more certain and universal way of informing people.
Apparently, it's necessary for some people. Like me.

my girlfriend and I are truly tripping out here
When we woke up our alarm clock said 7:15 and every other clock said 8:15. I've tried searching for anything about daylight savings and nothing. None of the news sites, my computer, or cellphone went back.....just our alarm clock.
so...did the clocks go back and if so what time is it EST?

The clocks went back in the uk. Perhaps your alarm clock is British.

Yeah, son, it's not DST time over here yet. Fix your alarm clock and proceed with life as usual.

People still do this?
I really wish they wouldn't mess with the clocks - I'm sure it would be better on us all. Its not like we need to save on candles anymore.
I don't have a TV or read newspapers or listen to the radio - all digital contact with the outside world for me is the interwebs. And I don't search for "when do the clocks go back" every weekend just in case. I don't have a girlfriend either to remind me.

I've read studies that say the daylight you save doesn't have any effect on energy consumption. Maybe someone should show that to Congress so we can get rid of DST.

we need to have a quantum unit!
I hate having to remember to set the clock in my car, microwave, oven, alarm clock, mobile phone, PS3, clocks around the apartment etc etc.
It's amazing how many things you have that tell you the time.
