Hey everybody. I'm back in Korea for another two years... it isn't as crazy as it was about 4 years ago when I was here but, still fun. What have you been up to?

How have you been? I went to some buddhist temple in Seoul a couple weeks ago, it was cool but, I only got to see one monk. I'm planning my Thailand trip already though! :P

some guy I know from the Internet went to Seoul to teach english and died earlier this month from an overdose of oxycontin.
Apparently there's been some problems of english teachers smuggling in illegal pills there lately. Read some article about it.

Right on, I've been to Seoul every weekend since I got back. I've been like... 3 times now. This weekend I'm not hitting Seoul though. I'm going to Suwon instead. There's a folk village there that's pretty cool.

i have a friend who is teaching there atm - says I should go out and visit him. But I'm scared I might starve to death because everything has meat in it apparently!
Its good to know they are heavy drinkers and their national sport is computer games - I'm sure I'd feel at home.
I'd love a Korean girl friend to!

Not everything has meat in it. There is a variety of foods... spicy though. I guess I'm lucky because I like spicy food and I like kimchee too. You should visit, it's worth a look around. Come in the spring though.

So Korea is a two year tour now? I was stationed in Pusan in 96/97. Hope you enjoy yourself.

It's a one year tour but, they have an incentive. If you stay an extra year they pay you $300 per month extra while you're here. I didn't do it for the money though. I just wanted to stay put for more than a year and then when I'm done here put in for Germany, Japan, Spain... blah blah blah.
I had an assignment back to England all lined up after a year here but, I decided to give it up for a shot somewhere else. I did two years in England and I liked it well enough but, I really want Germany or Japan.
Fingers crossed. LOL!
I went down to Pusan when I was stationed here before. I went shark diving at the aquarium there. It was pretty cool.

I was in Germany for 4 years. I love that place and I go back whenever I get the chance...

i always wanted to head to Korea to teach after college. Then I got a good job, and probably shouldn't leave it now. :(

I wanted to do hard currency speculation on the Won earlier this week because it was in shambles and I knew that it had nowhere to go but up. I talked to my friend about it and he poo pooed on the idea. Well, it's gone up 10% from Wednesday to Friday vs. the US $. I missed the boat on that one
If I'm not mistaken- Isn't Pattaya you're favorite haunt in Thailand? I hate Pattaya. Try Ko Samui and try to make it to a Full Moon Party.
