LL Cool J is the latest confirmed attendee for tonight's
Long Island Music Hall of Fame Gala at the Garden City Hotel, shoring up what is already a strong hip-hop presence for the organization's second induction.
LL joins Public Enemy, members of The Ramones, Blue Öyster Cult, Jean Ritchie, Kenny Vance and Bob Buchmann who are expected to be inducted in person tonight. Also set to be honored tonight in the wide-ranging class of 2008 are Louis Armstrong, Count Basie, Mariah Carey, Barbra Streisand, Aaron Copland and Simon and Garfunkel.
Public Enemy is also set to perform tonight, both on their own and with DMC from Run-DMC, who were inducted in 2006.

LI Music Hall of Fame recognizes local talent The gala will be a benefit for the Long Island Music Hall of Fame, which hopes to open in Port Jefferson late next year or in early 2010.
The museum will house permanent exhibits from the inductees as well as serve as a hub for the organization's educational programs.
To underscore their commitment to education, the group will also honor Herb Deutsch, professor emeritus at Hofstra University and one of the pioneers of electronic music, and John McNeur, founder and executive director of the Metropolitan Youth Orchestra and the Metropolitan Youth Orchestra Academy in Glen Head, as their educators of the year.
The group will also get students involved in the ceremony, as students from the H. Frank Carey High School's Rock and Wrap it Up Club will be on hand to take the unused food from the evening's gala and dinner to area soup kitchens.
