Ok, since I know there's a few F1 fans here, I might as well start a thread about where it's heading in the next few years.

Here's the start of the end for F1. Spec engines. Say it aint so.

You and me both. They do run the semi-auto now with the paddle shift, but they really need to put the tranny back in the driver's hand and foot.

At least slicks will be back next year.

Excellent i'm glad to see we're of the same mind...how bout naturally aspirated engines as well...and then we can look at a return to a simple lap belt to...plus let's bring scarves back...you know, bring some suave into it...:D

those two articles are 9th and 13th of october and stuff has happened since.

I don't think they will change the engines, I think it was a more cry for help than a threaten of major shifts in the goal posts. And especially with Farrai threatening to quit has made this a no go.

Sorry for the grammar and spelling - I'm drunk and high

F1 is Natually Aspirated. ChmapCar wasn't. Lap belt is deadly, although I do think a lot of danger is taken away from the sport as time goes on and dulls the alure of auto racing in general. Don't get me started on NASCAR (dulled down for moms and grandmas). F1 and Indy Car have always been my favorite due to the danger and performance fatcor. Scarves are cool, but we really need smoking and drinking in the pits.

Yeah, I posted those just as a OnceUponATime set. You know, where it started and where we are today.

I hope you're right on the engines. It will certainly be the downfall if this goes through.

Lap belts were insane...really interesting about how originally many drivers preferred the odds of being thrown from a wreck...and of course the scarves were functional in that you used them to wipe oil from your goggles...also under my mandate we're gonna git rid of pneumatic tools for pit crews...

kinda off topic, but the finish of todays race was beyond insane, and I actually cried. Massa was sooooooooo close to having the WDC, and he was so emotional when he pulled his car into parc ferme, I welled up :(

The rain helped hamilton out big time.... He was in 6th and needed to get into 5th, and on the last corner of the last lap he passed timo glock (who was slowing down because he was on dry tires) and got 5th place, and won the championship.

Massa and Ferrari thought they had it won, they showed the Ferrari garage going nuts, and then the look of dissapointment when they saw hamilton had taken 5th at the last possible moment.

All in all it was great, i found myself actually on the edge of my seat, fucking nuts.

The lack of rain nearly ruined him though. It would have been easier for him if there was no rain at all, then he would have cruised home in 4th without having to change tyres.

Awesome finish though. Got me off my seat. Epic scenes. Crowd booing, Massa crying. Hamilton is going to seriously ruin Nicole Scherzinger tonight.

Like no other race ever!

As much as I was wanting a WDC for Massa, I was just as stoked by the outcome of this race.

It's just taking a while to accept it.

"Blame it on the rain!" ;-)

What a show.

I'm stil out, but will give "my opinion" very soon.

WHat a show though. Loved it! Almost. ;-)
