Makes me a bit sick to see that. I am a small business owner and it is absolutely wretched out there right now. When the gas prices hiked up over the summer my business took a dive as did many others. The thing that killed me was how all my vendors raised thier prices to compensate. As did many big businesses. To me it did nothing but help kill the economy and put it closer to where we are now. I could not raise my prices and matter of fact had to cut them quite a bit. What I'm getting at is if everyone else would ride out the storm so to speak we all would be a bit better for it.

But it's not the fault of the oil companies, no it's peak oil, no it's demand, no it's speculators, no it's the dollar, no it's terrorism, no it's the oil companies.....

I doubt they will put no more than .01% of that into alternative energy development. Tons of people are fucked for heating oil having locked at much higher prices....guaranteeing massive profits still.

I get a lot of sunlight in my apartment, I wish I could have solar panels that took all the sunlight and turned it into heat for the winter so my stupid gas bills won't be so high.


otherwise I thought this thread was really about small business. I was going to say that our sales have been pretty decent, and we did better this year than last year. go figure. a lot of our clients are the kind of people who have money to burn though. also, people don't drive a much in the city, so they haven't been too affected by gas prices.
