It's weird, I thought he would win, but I never thought I'd see it. All the talk and the polls and the advertisements started to wear thin, but seeing him reach 270 brought everything full circle, and we saw history.
It's nice to witness history that isn't the result of tragedy for once.

My daughter woke up during his victory speech (she'd been sleeping next to me on the couch) and said "Obama!" I said, "President Obama, sweetie." She watched silently for a moment or two, and then said "He's my friend!"
I know it doesn't mean anything, but it made me start crying again.

I have been out of the candidate campaign race since I last heard of Ron Paul. I didnt know which candidate for presidency to vote for. I didnt want to fall into blind conformity and so I didnt vote. Yeah, rip me a new one. I however being out of the presidential loop considered myself to take on the approach of propositions. Sadly, gay marriage is loosing :(
Hey, at least farming now will gain more space for chicken which aside from being cruel it will most likely keep them clean from infections.

it was brilliant and its brilliant that he got in but the fact that he had to do it behind a load of bulletproof glass is still weirding me out a bit.

Not this time old and narrow minded America. Back you go. You had your chance and did nothing with it. You showed your colors by booing Obama at McCains speach while Obama received cheers for giving respect to McCain.
We get the flag back and can actually wave it with pride again.

I felt so inspired last night that I was actually able to avoid one of the middle of the night work-related panic attacks that have plagued me as of late.
It started and my heart started pounding and I started to worry but then I was just overcome by so many positive thoughts and feelings that I fell into a deep and satisfying sleep and I didn't wake up until this morning.
Its a new world.

Wow. I am happy. I´m happy for all the americans, and also happy for the rest of the world. I know the Dutch Prime Minister has done some stupid shit because he blindly followed George Bush, If he starts blindly following Obama that would mean positive change for us as well.
By the way, the main argument I hear from republicans against Obama, is that he's gonna 'take their money' because they're gonna have to pay taxes over certain things. Here in the Netherlands we have to pay a shitload of taxes over almost everything, yet there is little to no poverty here. That's because tax-money is used to support the less fortunate.
Sure, I understand that having to pay more than you're used to can seem very sucky, but in the long term it's going to help the country.
Yay for sharing 'n shit.

I passed out with a huge grin on my face in front of CNN with a pile of empty beer bottles. Wound up in bed somehow. Woke up this morning... thought to myself, "did it... was that for real? *rubs eyes*" I ran out to living room, turned on the tv and YEP and burst into tears again!!! sheesh the estrogen levels in me are off the charts
I actually thought for the first time, hmmmm I'd love to hang an American flag out front of my home. I feel more patriotic than ever.

I didn't notice the skinhead nor was I able to make out what they were yelling. I'm sure it wasn't anything polite after hearing the name calling at most of the McCain/Palin rallies.

This is the most common thing that I've been hearing my friends express in the last 24 hours or so,and frankly I feel it too, which is so weird as a lefty! "Patriotism" was totally userped by the right wing, bigoted, hate crowd in this country and I've always been nauseated by an outward expression of it because in my lifetime it has mainly been used as a tool of fearmongering and hatred.
It feels really great to be PROUD of something like this- that an overwhelming majority of the country felt the same way is beyond description! Happy Black President Day! (I celebrated by oversleeping and being late to work!)

I am the only one so far that I know of that doesnt see it as a history in the making. Well, yeah maybe being the first but... I mean big whoop. I dunno, I'm not too into the whole race stuff. I think Obama will make a decent President and after all those year American were put into those 8 years, I guess it only seems like Obama will be the greatest.
On another note, there was teacher here who voted for McCain only because he didnt agree with some of Obama's plans. Like his stand on abortion where Obama will have babies who survive abortion left alone no one to take care of. Which is ridiculous. But thats what I've been told.
Wow, I NEVER payed any attention to these candidates because I always assumed they would play that game of getting the most votes by promising way too much stuff. So, I'm only concerned with how they would run the country as Presidents than when they were running as candidates. Obama does seem decent and so far thats all I know. I'll be waiting to see what he would really do than just hype around like the people I see today.
also, I expect to see comedy shows doing impression of Barrack Obama with an upbeat urban fashion. haha
I have been out of the candidate campaign race since I last heard of Ron Paul. I didnt know which candidate for presidency to vote for. I didnt want to fall into blind conformity and so I didnt vote. Propositions were a big deal in Michigan, too. Amazingly, the two we had actually passed. We have legalized medical marijuana and stem cell research.
I supported both, as did my father. It was, however, embarrassing to hear him singing "Legalize It" by Peter Tosh all week.
LEGALIZE IT! DON'T CRITICIZE IT!

I havent checked about the Prop 8 win or loss base but what I know is in California, Fresno has the highest anti-gay marriage votes so far I know of Southern California. I really thought that sucked.

Yeah, big whoop. He only accomplished what most everybody thought they would never see in their lifetime, let alone completely dominate the election process against a man who was a former POW. I mean, seriously? How about thinking about what you say before you go and make an ass out of yourself by stating this isn't history in the making. We all saw something we will never forget Tuesday night and it's something America can actually be proud of. We overcame a massive race barrier in our country and now one man, a black man, is going to attempt to lead us out of the crises we're in right now, but yeah, you're right.
Big whoop. That whole race stuff is just silly.

Look I know how important it is for the majority that there is finally a black president, but its just that I dont know why race has to be a big deal in my undeerstanding. I just dont pay attention to skin color. If I do than i guess I would see a big difference both positive and negative angles towards a group or individual. I refuse to see it in that way. So many people of different skin colors have accomplished great things but I will not see it as a victory of their skin but more to the point I see victory of their actions.
Though, Reggie Jackson to see him tear during the victory speech I know how he must of felt. He was raised in times where race was most likely a constant issue and possibly something that can not be ignored everyday and to see Obama as President is a great accomplishment. But I was born in a different generation where race is not the cause so that is why skin color or facial features are of no interest to me.
