lets hope not that it happens, I think perhaps a different approach is perhaps more affective like holding hostages and putting out demands. In other words, radicals using the terrorism approach. Going for the president is to much of a hassle. Not just hostages but also murdering spree like sniping from the back of a car sort of speak. Those are just some ideas that maybe could happen if there are serious radicals.

The nice thing is, on the whole rednecks, kkk, white supremacists are pretty disorganized. They might be violent, and even able to use military grade weapons - but it's going to take a lot more tactics and planning than I think most groups interested in Obama's presidency are going to be capable of.

edit: in the "attempt" there's already been a part of their plans included "drive as fast as they could toward Obama and shoot at him from the windows of their car. They allegedly had discussed wearing white tuxedos and top hats for the occasion"

Im far from a redneck but I have plenty of people in my family that identify themselves as bein rednecks. They got what Id call a country accent. My uncle lives a pretty simple life he has a farm raises horses and such. But they arent fucking racists, or loons either. The rest of the world sees fairly clear examples regularly of the worst of the worst in America's more 'conservative' states. If those people are over-represented, or not indicative of the true nature of the south then I apologise (again).

All 'Southern Fucks' would be southern people, however not all southern people would necessarily be 'Southern Fucks' in the sense I was using it.

I still think it's a fair argument that the danger would come from these areas, although it doesn't necessarily reflect the wider southern mentality of ordinary American folks. lol @ me being a racist.

It's not crazy to worry about it. It's just that there is nothing I can do about it and I hope that the people assigned to protect him are doing a good job. They are not going to want to fuck this up.

It's reality that presidents get attacked but our history shows that it's more likely to be someone who is mentally ill rather than someone with a political agenda. There were two attempts on Ford, then Reagan was actually shot. So it's not out of the realm of possibility. What's more, Obama knows it and thus picked a VP who is capable of stepping in if the horrific and unthinkable happened.

I wasnt calling you a racist, but I think you have a very generalized opinion on people from southern states.
There is still that whole confederate pride mentality, but those people are definitely a minority. And even still they run their mouths way more then they'd be willing to go out of their comfort level to fight. What do you mean by danger would come from these areas?

Well, as mr. O put it himself when those looney skinheads had plans to go on their failed spree, he's got the best security service in the world- secret service.

As bionic put it, w is still in office etc, he's become a very unliked figure and mocked around the world and has also drawn alot of hatred towards his way but yet he's been safe traveling to the hostile environments that he created himself.

Obama isn't worried therefore neither am I. I only worry that he can pull off these great and touching speeches. My main concerns are the pullouts. If he can actually back his word and we can see more troops coming home, he's earned my vote.

The type of person that could take out Obama and execute it would need to be pretty intelligent to get close enough to him. Therefore they won't be idiots but highly organised terrorist from whatever background.
