Remember those back to school adverts. Every summer vacation we would barely start the second month and already the tele starts showing back to school ads. Fucking hated it, sons of bitches.
I bet showing holiday season early is more market strategy than a simple reminder of holiday that is like 1 to 2 months ahead.

Personally I don't think late October/early November is 'too early' to begin holiday advertising. There's a lot of planning to be done, esp for people like me who need to mail early and such.

they start the xmas sections in tesco in AUGUST, i think if you have managed to escape any mention of chrimble till now you have done very well.

I guess. But still, you basically know the shit that you have to get,

You might not believe this but I'll lob this out anyway.
Last year I saw Christmas oriented BS at the start of the year. Then they quietly swept it under the rug around Valentines Day

IKEA put their Christmas stuff up on September 24th...
three months before the Christmas Eve (which is our most important day during Christmas).
During the last week of October loads of shops in the city put up their Christmas displays
and all through September you could book your Christmas dinners at restaurants
(here it's really big that companies take all their employers out to X-mas din-dins)
