Wow that's pretty cool. I have a version of that song with the other beat and other verse I downloaded in the late 90's . Amazing how I'm still seeing new stuff in 2008...

The OG version was on the CB4 Soundtrack. Like dood said, this version came out later on Hurricane's album.

Does anyone have an mp3 of this version ? Would be appreciated.
Also iv looked for "The Hurra" in every cd shop I know and all over the net, itunes etc. CAN not find it anywhere. All DJ Hurricane rap verses iv heard have been awsome. Would love to be able to find some of his stuff.

There's also a live version floating around somewhere. I believe it might be the 1992 Los Angeles show where they put Hurra on the mic.

I have the album; I've had it for years. The tracklisting on the back doesn't really match the album, but I can drop some thoughts and maybe in time find a way to share it online.
Hurricane is not my idea of a great mc. Some of the verses are a little too gangsta for their own good, but it's ok. I think there may be a couple of instances of the B-Boys playing instruments on there; I think Mario C did some upright bass for it and Bobo played the drums on 'Elbow Room' (coincidentally that makes it 2 Beastie Boys Djs to have sampled Da Lench Mobs 'Guerillas in the mist' - look it up its tight). Money Mark does a great turn on Pass Me the Gun, and of course there's the Four Fly Guys and Stick Em up guest spots. Horovitz also gets a writing credit for 'Pat Your Foot'. There's a Sen Dog guest spot on 'Feel the Blast' which I would say has a definite live bass line, and samples 'When the Levee Breaks' ( a popular choice) in its hook.
There are a couple of instances where the Beasties are sampled; one song (I forget what it's called) samples 'So Watcha Want' (very briefly however). Another carries the same drum sound as Futterman's Rule, so either the drum machine sample came from that song or it is just an unused break. Overall it has a very old-school funk sound, but some of the beats are a bit wishy washy. They could be carried by great delivery, which is something in fairly short supply (on this album at least). That's not to say it's all bad, though.
Overall it ranks a 6 out of 10 as a standalone work, but as a Beastie oddity I'd give it about an 8. Particularly as it gives some insight into what a Mario C driven piece of work could sound like. Had Hello Nasty gone a bit differently (and I guess I'm glad it didn't), it could have headed right back to the 70s instead of into outer space. There is a lot going on and a number of really interesting beats; I'd take it as an instrumental record any day.
