I don't know. it used to be for the attention/laughs/information. but the more ubiquitous the internet becomes, the less I want to participate. my coworker told me about this website with people's apartments on it and one of the featured apartments was one of a girl I know, and it freaked me out. I'm kinda tired of everyone knowing everything about you on the internet. I miss the anonymousness of stuff. I guess here things are still pretty anonymous because most of us have usernames that aren't our real names, and that's appealing because it's like everyone knows each other, but not really.


there are a million other ways to connect with people and/or waste time online now, and I think that's why this board is sorta dying. sometimes I think it'd be more active if you could post photos in all the forums. :/

in all seriousness, back in the day, I could post whatever the hell I wanted because there was no possible way anyone I knew would ever find it. now everyone's all google happy. not that anyone I know would find anything on here really, there have been a few instances when I talk about something specific that shows up on a google search, and it is scary to think that someone could search for something I was talking about in real life and have it lead here. and then they'd be like, "whoa, is this? it is! oh shit" *reads all threads by dorothy wood and forms terrible opinion* but honestly, I don't think I know anyone who'd have the patience for that.

once, years ago, like 7 years ago, my friend did a search for his old band and found this board and was talking about some person who was talking about the band and he couldn't figure out who it was and yadda yadda, and I was all embarrassed, but didn't admit it was me. ha. that's kinda why I don't mention anything specific anymore, the whole ease of searching things these days. there's been like a billion things that happened that I haven't posted about in the past few years that the old me would've totally posted about.
