Weird or not? The only person I can think of who had them as an adult was Tom Cruise and I really don't want to fall into the same catergory as him; that short-arse-alien-shagging nutter.

If your also wearing a school girl outfit and your hair in pig tails, then they are pretty damn hot.

Seriously yo, you could make anything look good.

H, I think you need to put 'retainers' for our backwards cousins (y)

do the invisible ones.

my dentist keeps telling me i need to get them. i'm so used to my irregular smile, i can't even think how different i would look without it. i'll keep my uniqueness.

ugh i find it so creepy that some men have a fetish for school uniforms and pigtails. i'm a woman not a little girl. do you want me to call you daddy, too?

tp, i think braces are quite endearing on adults, actually. i considered getting some cosmetic dentistry done last year and it was a real possibility, and i was actually looking forward to having braces. i decided not to in the end because my teeth aren't that bad, it gives me some character and oh, it's quite expensive. one of my best friends had her teeth done and it looked fine. depends how much you smile, too. you can hide it really well if you want to. but don't! don't be ashamed! grin :)

My teeth aren't actually a problem really - they're not perfect but I am pretty ok with them. The issue is with my jaw & overbite. They need to stretch out my top jaw so it sits properly so that I can do useful things like bite Sellotape :D Otherwise, I think I'll have problems with my joints there when I am older because of an over-reliance on certain teeth. I think the actual straightening of the teeth is a secondary benefit. And yeah, they can do clear braces but that doubles the cost and I am not worried about them showing to be honest....

I'd be having tiny screws drilled into my mouth and lots of secret wires (it's a Korean technique apparently) to pull my jaw into place.

yeah i have a pretty big overbite too. they wanted to break my jaw and move it up to match. i don't think i could deal with that.

When I see braces on adults I think "hey good on you"...cause I tend to think maybe their parents couldn't afford an orthodontist or were just plain negligent...

Oh no, my parents sent to the orthodontist. He was a pisshead though, hence treatment potentially going ahead now.

Is this some kind of trick question?;)

My friend had them twice!? i've never heard of that. Once as a teen and then once again like 3 years ago (he is 32 now). He didn't say he had braces but referred to them as his "grill" the second time around.

Braces on adults = ok.

I saw a girl on the bus the other day with braces, she was probably in her mid 20's. she seemed like she felt self-conscious about them when a dude she knew got on the bus and started chatting with her. she was also wearing pink uggs that were all stained and gross, so she kind of looked like a teenager.

that doesn't have anything to do with anything really, just a coincidence.

I'm in favor of braces if they help, but if a friend of mine got them, I'd totally make fun of them. because it's a funny thing. I don't think anyone really truly looks down on anyone for wearing them though.

I had braces from 6th-8th grade and I hated them. they didn't fix my overbite, and were probably not necessary as both of my parents have very straight teeth naturally. my teeth on top are pretty straight, but the bottom front ones have gone a little wonky over the years.

My dentist told me years ago that I probably need braces, but I'm too scared to get them. I hate the look of my teeth, I have a massive overbite and a big gap between my front teeth, but I'm scared of being ridiculed and I've also heard the pressure on your teeth can be quite painful.
Also, I still suck my thumb, and I'd have to quit that before braces would have any effect...

But on the other hand, I want to live in britain some day, so crooked teeth might help me to blend in.
