Its fucked! I did the whole dry it off, keep it in a dry place off with silicon gel's for 12 hours jazz, but the keyboard is fucked. Mostly doesn't let me hit keys, or sometimes types the let G constantly. Fuck!
Has anyone done this before? Any idea of the repair costs involved. I know im gonna get fucked over. fuck!
Need to cancel the lecture i was gonna give tomorrow and go get this fixed. more hassle. Will some one look after the helicopter thread for a few days while i get this sorted?
I would normally burn you for having a mac but that is pretty ouch!
I would suggest, take the keyboard out - get some compressed air and give it all a clean. And then see if its any better.
Also, any good independent repair shop should be able to have a look at it pretty cheaply for ya and quickly. We'd charge a max of £20 in trying to save it. We wouldn't promise we could tho in case water had got into the mobo or chip
I've split beer on my laptop and its been fine. But mine is only a £250 Dell.

that was cool like 8 years ago and not even then

but people still buy them
Only time I'd justify a Mac would be when the person is a architect or a complete retard who has too much money. Or for whatever reason their work enforces the use of macs and want to buy them for their employees free...
I'd accept a free one, but for the limited use of them, buying them for the home market or for any sort of coding or web usage is just wrong. I can't understand why they are popular.
If you need a Unix system, then you can split your HDD and run ubuntu or something - its easier to install that OS that it is to run upgrades on windoze. Or run fedora for the more tech minded.

i am neither an architect nor am i a retard with too much money.
I am however, someone who holds the view point that mac computers, and specifically OS X, are the best value for money computers on the market, and thus I buy them.
As For coding there is absolutely no problem using them for such a purpose. I write perfectly functioning and fine code on a mac, and there is no reason for it to be otherwise.
Thank you.

Sorry, didn't mean to insult. I was in rant mode. I should stop myself.
When I've weighed up the spec of laptops or computers, Mac are so far down the list for me I can't justify it for my needs and I use computers all the time for everything and want it to do everything. But you obviously researched it for your needs.
My main problem is that they are cool in some circles and you HAVE to have one. Then they get used for surfing the web only when something that is 20% the cost will do that and more (in my experience)

Thank god it wasn't tea of coffee with sugar in it, when that stuff dries off you have no chance of an easy fix. I'm not sure if applecare covers accidental damage and if that's the case then I hope you've got a few pennies stored somewhere because no apple product is fixed cheaply.
I suggest seeing a specialist like these who I go to when I need something. For instance my Plug went on my powerbook and a new one in the apple store was £55 but gbm did me a third party one for £30 ie it's always cheaper to sidestep apple (y)

but back then it was cool making fun of mac users but with time it turned out that those haters are just jealous brokies like you!

yeah, sidestepping apple is the best way to save money and usually has the same results.
I've been extra careful around my macbook pro because of this stuff, I've ruined 3 keyboards on my old pc, but thus far been alright with the mbp and my imac.
Also, I used to think mac's were shit and pretty much talked like adam. But then i used it, preferred it to pcs and i now have two. I prefer both the computer and OS (even though i run vista on the mac, but that is SOLELY to use sony acid, beyond it i'm never on its partition)
it all comes down to preference. and arguing over prefences is... stupid.

ok...so im using a Windows machine while my Mac gets fixed..
NOW..i don't like the whole Windows v Mac fight really, its kind of stupid. They both have their merits and at the end of the day, they are just computers.......But i have to say, to all the Mac-bashers...windows is not very good. Restarting after installing a programme? It little things like that that add up.
Registrys...DLLs....its a mess.

im actually quite pro mac, but whenever I change my icons on my mac or anything like that it has to restart. Of course it takes 2 seconds to restart and you don't have to stare at a shitty logo with a bar below it for 20 seconds. I don't feel really anything is better about Windows, right now it still supports more things and thats the only reason i have bootcamped with vista, as soon as Sony decides to swing both ways all will be well though. but again, it comes down to preference. neither is perfect.

another thing about apples...they BUILD better machines..
i was in PC world....90% of Win machines are plasticy, wobbly ugly things. I saw a couple of nice little ones, but some of them are hideous, ugly, flimsy builds.
yeah and fuckin' beige too.
sorry to bump this thread but I want to explain something.
Roosta, I want to apologise for calling you a retard. I really didn't mean it. After I posted here I closed the browser and didn't come back for a few weeks because I was uptight and had to get myself off certain substances that made me an ass and depressed...
anyway, I've only just read past my last comment of this thread. I have Apple overkill. I don't like what Apple do - I have to give credit to them dropping their DRM, its the best thing they've done imho but doesn't make up for them actually doing it in the first place.
Also, I don't use Windows (kinda*) so its not a M$ vs Apple thing. I use Linux for most things so I am on a UNIX platform like Apple use. But, I can't justify the cost myself. Although on hold while I can read the economic situation better, I am in the process of a setting up a software company which maybe executed in 3-6 months or maybe years - I dunno yet. But I am constantly researching.
*I have 4 machines and the only thing I have with windows on is a 10GB partition to play windows only games.
I love gadgets, technology and science. My problem with Apple is that they put themselves as the new technology of the future but they use technologies pioneered in the 90s. I mean, moving parts in a MP3 player they market as using on the move and then charge a premium for it? Doesn't seem right. Its getting to a stage where the latest Desktops don't come with moving parts (other than optical drives). Solid State is readily available technology for small devices yet ipods still seem to be the worlds favourite? And I think I am the only person in the world that dislikes the wheel they have on their MP3 players.
I'm missing my point here. But to clarify, I dislike Microsoft as much as Apple and if I was to recommend one or the other to some1 - I wouldn't. But just because PCs are cheaper and faster I would buy that before an Apple.
