it was a lovely scarf that was NOT wool, so that is cool right there. it's red and matches the paint on my walls in my living room. she also included some candy called "armadillo eggs". they taste like jelly beans. :) i wore my scarf to work today and i needed it! it was 20 degrees out!

I got a book: Always Unreliable by Clive James, tons of candy bars (one of which my Australian boss identified as Tazmanian, corroborating your card), a lovely Lemon Myrtle soap that has the most authentic lemon smell I've ever smelled, and a bottle of Apple and Black Currant juice which I hope tastes as wonderful as it sounds.

I can't wait to read this book. Now that we're out in the open perhaps you can tell me why you chose it. That's at least as much a part of the present as me reading it. Its like a little peek inside your psyche.

I chose that book because he is an Australian, it describes his Australian childhood (and then some) and is absolutely hilarious. I enjoyed reading it tremendously, and I guess I also saw a wee part of my own childhood in there somewhere.

It's reasonably thick, but the first part is the best, so at least read that and you wont regret it. : )

The story about how I found out about my present is the best too and obviously worth my 1000st (!) post: I had a note in my letterbox some days ago saying I got a package while I wasn't home. So I had to go pick it up at the postoffice (which took me about a hour because the post in germany is even worse than any office of the authorities :rolleyes:).

Anyway, I got my package sent from some guy/girl named Busse I never heard of, living close to the town where I grew up. The parcel was wrapped in a newspaper and there was no card or hint to the sender. As it contained a toy truck from my favorite local cordial called Hiller Moorbrand, which I always offer to all of my friends at parties, I thought it must have been a joke from someone I know and started asking everybody who the fuck that Busse-guy was and who had sent me that truck. Everybody kept answering things like "stop drinking" (hahaha). So I was really confused.

When bionic asked me a few days ago if I still didn't get my present I told him that I still recieved nothing - not thinking that he might be the one behind the story. As I still had no answer to the mystery of the Hiller-Moorbrand-Truck, my husband kept saying "go ask him if he sent the truck" (well, he said it in german actually). So I asked bionic feeling quite silly explaining the whole story. I thought he would go ask the admins to ban that crazy german girl from the boards probably. But he got back to me saying that he really bought that truck from some guy on the internet. Unbelievable!!! I laughed my head off for about an hour... :D

So that was really a masterpiece. Thanks again!
