When I was young, around 5 or 6 (1991ish), my brother and I had keyboard lessons. My dad bought us a keyboard. I remember it cost £100 and it was a Casio Tonebank - it could make loads of noises, had drum beats the lot. It came with a Richard Clayderman instructional video. But most importantly it had a demo button. You'd press the demo button and it would play this tune that went on and on before looping back again and repeating. It was awesome. I can still remember the whole thing in my head right now including the kind of instruments it played.

The other day I was driving down the M6/M56 from Manchester listening to Radio 2 when Together Forever (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B62p-dEfUZM) by Rick Astley was played. I was instantly transported back to being 6 years old. This was the demo song on my keyboard, I never knew it was a real song until now - 17 years later. I couldn't believe it when it started playing. Incredible.

So what I'm trying to say is that Rick Astley lived in my keyboard.

When I was in school back in 1984 our music teacher,Mrs Wood used to make us play stuff on Casio keyboards but mainly she demanded from us as much spare change in our pockets as we could to help the starving Ethiopians. Not many gave up their cash so she was a moody bitch because of this.
Sometimes the bitch taught us some music and one day I learnt to play Lionel Ritchie's haunting classic 'Hello' on the 'BIG' piano(y)

The mid-80s keyboard in our family had "Just The Way You Are" as it's demo song. I'm pretty sure it was a Yamaha.

The song was programmed into the Yamaha PSS series of synthesizers, popular in the late 1980s, as a demonstration mode.

I was correct!
