what'cha think about that?

i think a lot's blown out of context or proportion, but ... a lots not. ya better know.
props to the boys for staying on point and spin doctoring these types of things.

wise old vowel

still like the wise old owl

watchin' all movement like deep deep tao

piece it all together like time was ours

make some distinctions like greed vs power

keep my head up like ali's rap brow

[keep my head stern with the bruce lee bow]

'cause i've been rappin' prescience just like "right.. now.."

first i'll x plain it then i'll show you how

y gets figured out as we express our vows

they tried to usurp the wise old vowel

produced those planes and bombed the towers

spread their syndrome on the masses, gower

so i try to stay sweet 'cause there's so much sour

so herd it 'homeward bound'

keep your ear connected to the ground

loop life's tonic biorhythmic sound

don't play amazing grace if you haven't been found

ow! get down

big ups to james brown

turn the pyramid upside down

watch it all get turned around

or you think it's a moot point?

I've heard that membership in the freemason's has plummeted since the 50's. I went on a google search and found an article from the LATimes dated May 18 (http://www.latimes.com/features/lifestyle/la-ig-masons18-2008may18,0,562412.story), 2008. It kind of talks about and examines the state of freemasonary in the Southern California area as it is today, here's a quick excerpt:

Meet the millennial Masons. As secret societies go, it is one of the oldest and most famous. Its enrollment roster includes Louis Armstrong and Gerald Ford, and it has been depicted in movies such as “The Da Vinci Code” and “National Treasure.” Once more than 4 million strong (back in the 1950s), it has been in something of a popularity free-fall ever since. Viewed with suspicion as a bastion of antiquated values and forced camaraderie, the Masons have seen membership rolls plummet more than 60% to just 1.5 million in 2006.

I think about those numbers above and the population growth in the US since the mid-50's and what I see is a group that is slowly becoming less attractive. On the flip side of the coin many Americans have adopted other outlets since the mid-50's... such as getting wasted on drugs and alcohol... showing a boom in other much easier organizations to become a member of, like AA, Alcoholics Anonymous, a completely anarchistic group which has over 54,000 meeting groups daily in the US with millions of people attending.

So it appears to me that freemason's are trying to be hip, but overall I personally find the group structure of freemason's to be confining to spiritual growth and really not a very successful way to climb the ladder in 2008.

what

Forget it, your being an ass. Why does anybody bother conversing with you? Do you not comprehend the simple statement I'm making, I think the numbers of members of Freemason'r shows it's a dying group. To have a hip hop vs. freemasonry angle is to me the equivalent to having a hip hop vs. underwood typewriters angle.

It's not like people are clinging to secret societies to help improve themselves, nor are they holding on to their typewriter's to enhance their social skills.

We're in a different time and a different age.

I can't watch 30 minutes of that. I got through a couple of minutes and didn't get it. Can I have a summary?

BTW. I have a long ago connection to the masons. That's something people never believe.

you're right. it's a pretty lame topic.
still it's just decisive enough to count at the top echelons of society.

it just shows various artists who rap about the 'new world order'.. yeah it's not the best depictions.
it makes you think about what is what and who is who at the top echelons of society and how it all derives.

i digress.

it's a shame because freemasons sounds so good.. like you're building something. it's tricky.

yeahwho that's the funniest quip I've read on this board in ages. (y)

Secret societies are overrated, by which I mean it's too easy to assign them much more influence than they are owed, especially if you've got something of an overactive imagination to begin with. The open public sphere provides the ordinary citizen with vastly more than enough opportunities to expose nepotism and corruption. Shifty, nebulous theories of guilt by association are a poor substitute for actual investigation.

There are related groups for their wives, sisters, daughters, and granddaughters. There are white robes involved. ;)

And there are also related groups for males, like the Shriners, and for young males.

These days, I don't think anyone's membership is secret. I think that there are just secret things you learn, like a greeting and handshake and some religious mumbo jumbo that you memorize. And they still probably vote on new members in secret so that they can blackball people. I wasn't in a sorority but I suspect it's the same.

Both of my nextdoor neighbors are Masons. It's funny when I see the one guy who goes about 5'-3" and weighs in at about 300lbs. come out in his tux with tales. He looks like the monopoly man.

They tell me the Masons donate a million dollars a day to charity.
Don't know if it's true or not, but God bless them if they do.

The few guys I know who are freemasons are OK, not really into promoting or recruiting, but probably after getting to know me they decided I was probably not going to fit in. Afterall I post on the BBMB. That should be enough to ban me from any organized group of folks.

That guy is a lightweight, bring him on up to Seattle and I'll sober him up and teach him how to write a half ass decent song. Sounds like he's whining on and on about rehab, not Double AA.

so everyone and their mom is a freemason. and in the bible belt, forget about it.
i see what the problem is. i mean, that explains a lot, like why bush was allowed to declare himself president, not to mention everything else.

i should have said illuminati. what'cha know about that?

I knew you would take it there once documad said she had associations with the freemason's.

Is this about jealousy? Purity from peer pressure? I mean come on, I was a cub scout once. There are more cub scouts than freemasons.

I was a know nothing cub scout, you've got a point there. I never did like the essential basics when I was growing up. I don't even know if the internet generation knows what the essential basics are. Future generations will probably consider mouse and controller skills as essential basics.

yeah freemasonry and freemasons encourage free-thinking and rational thought, while doing a lot of charitable work. it was originally established as a secret order for free-thinking men to escape the persecution of the catholic church. quite a few of america's founding fathers were free-thinking masons who had little use for christianity and looked to europe for guidance. i wouldn't doubt that there are some sleazeballs and other evil fuckers who have been masons over the years, but on the whole the concept of the society is pretty sound.

It's honestly like a fraternity for older guys.

They do some great things. They run some nursing homes that are about as nice as nursing homes can be in my area and they provide the help as a charitable thing not for money making. The money the Shriner's make gets put into children's hospitals.

And they always say that most of the people who signed the declaration of independence were masons but I've never checked it out myself.

I was kicked out of their girls' group for "insubordination" and I appealed the decision but got no due process. I was accused of some things I didn't do by people who were never named.

While I was a member, the organization forced me to compete against other girls in statewide speech type activities. I have all these goofy, triangle shaped awards to show for it! So the whole thing was a positive for me.

Your story reminds me of a trip to California a couple of years ago, I was staying at the Anaheim Hilton, directly across the street from Disneyland with my niece, nephew and brother. Anyway we were down hanging around the pool on a beautiful sunny California day and it all of a sudden dawned on me the pool area was crawling with hundreds of High School age kids, but it was quiet, no yelling, no splashing and no grabassing. Well this struck me as bizarre so I went up to one of the kids in the pool and asked, whats Up with all of you kids? He said they were from all over the Country staying at the area hotels for the National Speech and Debate Tournament that week at the Anaheim Convention Center.

They had composure, poise and a steady tone to every phrase. It was like an alternate planet.

I let 'em know and they usually find me, they track me down, as soon as I figure out whats going on I just yell out, Hey! Remember Me! You banned me from the cub scouts! You said I was not of the proper stock to be in any organization. You went over my head and told my parents I was talking out of place, not listening and a bad influence on other scouts. Your organization told me I was a juvenile delinquent that would never amount to anything. Now that you've found me what do you have to say for yourselves? Then they pull up to the drive through window I ask 'em, did you want fries with that?

Freemasonry:

I did my memerization work and bacame a Mason in 96.

I still have a current membership card and I have gone to 1 event this year when 35 Norweigen delegates came to town.

My father, grand father, great grand father.... were members

According to the text if I have Masonic Comunication with a non Mason I could be killed ... So now I might be killed because of this post.

My father quit the masons in his 40s due to a racial issue he had with it ... good for him.

The 1 meeting I came to this year was the first in the state that blacks and whites went to together. My dad would of loved it ...RIP...
Being a Mason today is as easy as giving your money, and many temples have done away with memerzation work. Mine took over 6 weeks of 6am hour meetings to complete.

You want to talk about the Masons? Of done enough here but your welcome to email me at earl@fuckyoumyman.com
