Yeah, I don't get the button fly thing either. Quite frankly, I have a coat that is strictly button up as well... and I now wish it was zippered. I mean, it looks nice and everything, but what a pain in the ass.
On pants though? Forget it. Gimme that zipper fly. YKK is where it's at.
I like jeans with a button fly.
Yeah, they reduce the problem of getting caught it the zipper by 100%.
That's a good percentage.

Uh... you'll find that in cerauin situations, your button fly can be ripped open much much faster/easier than the old zipper, even.

George and Jerry have a conversation on this in season 3 of Seinfeld. Can't remember which show.
I'm wearing button fly today.yesterday I wore zip fly and the zip kept unzipping probably due to weight gain after stopping smoking. It keeps you on your toes when out in public to keep checking. It's like a magician style move to sweep the hand across as if your going to check inside your pockets but feeling the zip situation en route.
only bob could make a thread about buttons on pants btw(y)

I have no problem getting the buttons undone, it's doing them back up again that is the slow part. I don't like button flys on jeans.

I prefer button jeans. They're easier to rip off when you're in a rush/wasted.

it's the buttoning up that got me yeah. i went into the dressing room to put them on, and first i had to unbutton the buttons from the outside, which was difficult (but that's always annoying) and then i tried to try them on, but i couldn't get the damn things buttoned. i said to myself "this is too much work to hide my shame" and put them away
it's really annoying because apart from the button fly they were pretty good jeans, they fit well and everything. which is rare for me, because i'm skinny and my legs are long

Button flys can be a pain to button when new, but once you break em in they're great.

button fly jeans are so 90s but the zipper ones are so 80s
so the button version wins all the way

yeah, I was gonna say button flies were pretty 90's. maybe they're coming back though. I had some in high school that I liked a lot. it's true, you get used to the buttons and it becomes easier to deal with as the fabric softens. also, you don't really have to undo all the buttons, just like the top 3 usually.
Where have I seen those before? (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v322/theace18/LOL%20cats/s640x480.jpg) They're also on Lucky Brand jeans... what a waste. I'm okay with zippers. I'm hanging short, shriveled, and to the left. No risk of a There's Something About Mary.

my shoes and pocket protector are velcro, babes, sup! Schup!1!
But button fly bdus were military issue. You grow accustomed to them after a while.
In ball sweating heat, the breeze flows through the gaps and it feels pleasant.
I also think that in dead winter time when you're bundled up in clothing, it's easier to button your fly over the layers rather than zipping up and getting your layers caught in the zipper.
Y- button fly
YYYYY- velcro fly
N- zippers

I find them diffcult to undo. Even with decent motivation.

Once your break them in, they are waaaaay better than zippers.

why, though? why is a series of buttons better than a straight up/down motion? maybe they just get really easy to handle when they're broken in, but that shit was unwieldy in the dressing room

^ yeah, when I'm unbuttoning some guy's pants, I don't wanna wait till that shit is broken in. Chances are, he doesn't either.
I could be wrong though.

Or stop being spastics. Anyone can do up a few buttons, there's no reason why it should take more than a couple of seconds or be any kind of problem.
