View Full Version : super pop-ups
i have some very annoying adware or something on my computer. every 5 minutes or so, a firefox window pops up and displays an advertisement. a plurality of them are on interplusclick.com but they're all over the place really. it doesn't matter if i have a firefox window open or not, i'm just sitting here watching a movie with my browser closed, and every 5 minutes or so, i get knocked out of it to see a pop-up ad.
i ran a short scan with malwarebytes and rebooted but it didn't fix the problem. i'm running a full scan now, and i'm going to run a virus scan after that, but i'm skeptical that it will work.
has anyone else ever had this before? it's incredibly incredibly annoying. how the hell do i make it stop?
i don't even know where it came from, i haven't browsed any unusual sites recently. i looked at porn earlier today, but nowhere i haven't been before, and that was only this morning, this problem just started an hour or so ago. unless it was a delayed release thing, i have no idea where it came from.

They mention a software that fixes it.

You can try doing a system restore to a date previous to the day the adware started.

you come back out of the blue to give bob tech support? what a rip!
malwarebytes did the trick, i guess i just didn't give it enough time before.
so if anyone else has this problem (and it's seriously such an annoying problem) download that, do a quick scan, let it finish and you'll be set

somethings up with my firefox. more often than not when i click a link it takes me to a random search website with the search criteria for what i searched before. it's really annoying but doesnt happen if i open the link in a new tab. anyone know whats going on here?
Sounds like something has hijacked your browser if it's bringing you to a random results page. Run whatever anti-malware software you have, like Malwarebtye's or Spybot. If that doesn't fix it...
Go into Tools > Clear Private Data > then check everything off. There's a program called Hijack This (http://www.download.com/Trend-Micro-HijackThis/3000-8022_4-10227353.html). Run it and save a log file and post it up here. Or if you're feeling brave check off anything that comes up with a BHO in front of it and fix it.

Dude, I had that shit just yesterday and managed to zip the fuck out of Spyware 2008 Guard and trojan virus with SuperAntiSpyware and Malwarebyte (y) both are good shit and recommended.
Cool, glad to hear it! I thought both of those products were bullshit garbage until I started using them. They're my new Adaware and Spybot.
Also, haha roosta. I agree. But hey, Windows 7 is coming out. They'll get it right this time... they promise! :D
