I was supposed to hang out with eagles of death metal tonight, but they didn't show up. but, holy shit this punk show I went to was amazing and this one dude totally had the hots for me. he had chops and wore a hat and had tight pants as wearing gazelles and he told my friend he thought I was "cute as fuck", and then we kept bumping into each other but never talked, but then when I was leaving, he was outside and he told my girl, "I love your friend", and so I was all, "hey you! wanna take me on a date?" and then he was like, "fuck yes I do", then I gave me my number and told him to call me and he hugged me and kissed me on the cheek! OMG OMG OMG *jumps up and down*
seriously, he's like my perfect boy, lookswise...circa 1996. I don't even know what that style of dressing that's called...the tight pants and bomber (?) jacket and chops and gazelles and hat? is it oi? what am I getting myself into? he was in the pit shoving people and jumping and shouting.
my inner teenager was screaming with glee. but, I'm totally a hipster and listen to pansy music...so, I'm kind of nervous.
OMG HE JUST TEXTED ME AHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I totally have a boner right now.

that's a shame. one day you will find yr dreamboat. PROMISES.
I think the clue was in the fact he wears a hat. I picture him like the guy in Orson.

Man, before I even read this thread the guy went from "dream" to "dull." What makes him so boring?

meh, he just wrote a text that said "nice to meet you tonight, my name's [skinhead]. I didn't want you to forget". and that was nice, but then I was like, "I didn't forget, how's things?" and he said "same, just drinking beer".
which...is okay. I told him I was going to bed and he said "that's cool, goodnight". but then a little later he was all, "send me a picture". wtf? so I sent him a silly picture of me from my phone and he was like, "that's not you", and I was like, "umm, yes it is, I just don't have many pictures of myself on my phone". and I didn't get a response, so I passed out. then this morning it looks like at 3 a.m. he wrote "make a new one".
:( I don't wanna go on a date anymore. :(

I don't think anyone comes across as a barrel full of persona in text messages.
Yeah...he does sound like a tool though.

moshing in a pit. Is this guy like 19 years old?
Punk rock is non existant these days. Go to myspace and check out a few of these new punk rock bands. Clueless they are.

the underground is still alive though. you just have to look hard for it.
Punk rock is too broad of a genre title now. I saw the Black Lips once in college and that felt pretty punk to me - but I guess technically they're more "Nuggets" boxset with punk overtones. Everyone was going apenuts without getting really violent.

I guess I should've known he was a skin, I just wasn't real sure since the skins I hung out with in college were the shaved head and boots kind. super nice boys they were, but just a wee self-righteous in a way I could never put my finger on.
anyway, the crowd was old school, the bands were old school, one was a super group made up of members of stiff little fingers, peg boy, rise against and some other bands.
I'd say this guy seems like he's 32. most of the crowd was probably around 27-40 years old. it was an old fashioned shove and jump kind of pit, not a mosh pit really. meh. that part was awesome, I was laughing my head off and pushing my friends and shaking my head around like a maniac like I did when I was 18. The punks who take punk seriously are usually not going to listen to the Carpenter's with you, while the punks who enjoy punk as art will. The Ramones had such a great sense of humor. It's still going right over the heads of millions of people.
Fuck I love punk rock.

i love it too, but my husband is def the kind that takes it "serious" as you'd say. there isn't much that he likes other than aggro aggro punk and oi!.
