View Full Version : Gala DVD before next album?

It's a good question, i think. They have to complete their works before they release them and they have to release in a timely manner. If the next album is out 2009, the Gala DVD must come out way before it. They obviously cannot promote 2 different products at the same time, it would hurt sales of each.. Imagine seeing an ad for the Gala DVD and not being impressed and then seeing an ad for the new album. You would confuse the two and not check the album out. I also can't see the Gala coming out after the next album. That would mean it would come out after the tour and anything else related to the next album..
So IF the album is coming out 2009, my bet is on 3rd or 4th quarter, and the DVD coming out 1st or second quarter..Winter or Spring probably. (y)
Any thoughts?

I wish reporters asked about the DVD once in a while. They are not in the know.. they just ask the obvious question they would ask any band. "hey, uhh, when's the next album coming out?"

It's pretty obvious...
The Gala DVD will go the same way as TMU 2.
NOT
GONNA

Gala DVD would be epic. The danger in making fans wait for too long is that we will continue to wait, I guess.
Gala DVD >>>>> TMU 2

i did. i also got some decent footage at The Riviera in Chicago. i signed a release and a camera spec sheet. at this point thought, i'm fairly certain that this project is dead.

If you are signed to Capital Records... nothing comes for free.

the beasties never actually said they were making a gala dvd, really. they announced they were filming, thats it. there're no commitments made with simply documenting a live show. for the vault, if you will. maybe in the future they will edit and release this footage, but like i said, they never publicly stated that a dvd was being put together.
did they?

You're right. In this article (http://www.billboard.com/bbcom/news/article_display.jsp?vnu_content_id=1003642997) Yauch even said they had no plans to release a live DVD.

that was dated 9/19, 5 days before they put out the official call for entries on their website. just sayin. did they ever call it a Gala DVD? I don't think so. but they called it a project they were working on.
the bottom line is they have a lot of live footage, not only from Detroit and Chicago, but from that whole tour.

I would be surprised if they didnt have a massive amount of footage from most of their tours. Doesn't necessarily warrent a live DVD for each one.
Don't forget that they just released a live DVD only a few years back, not to mention they had to bribe the opportunity out of Capitol by releasing a greatest hits, so, the odds of seeing another ive DVD anytime soon, I think, are highly unlikely.
Oh well, thats my two bits anyhow.

you're right on that it'll evenrtually come out down the road.
you're wrong on the TMU2 (vocals remix) being a joke. I think it was a definite real idea, but fizzled out once the TMU didn't do stellar numbers and/or lack of inspiration.

I'd be surprised if they put this out anytime this decade. However, I'd love to see this as some bonus footage/hideen track on some O-Scope release somewhere.
Not only did they have the fans filming but they also had some professionals filming as well. They did some pre-concert filming/interviewing of fans in line before the doors opened, too.

I just found the official call for entries and they actually used the word "film". Just a technicality, I still think we won't see anything anytime soon. But when they're bored in a few years they may get around to messing with this.
"of course we are not looking to make another AIFST! but you are welcome to use your camera to document your experience at the show.
and then send us the footage, and we will try to include it in our film of the show."

Youtube deleted my old account yearofmusic with all the footage I put up from the Chicago show. I will put it up again on YOMoffspring. Great stuff!
