...so the subject of great guitar solos came up the other day and it occured to me: are there great guitar solos by women? I haven't heard
L7 and doubtless lots of other bands with female guitarists, but I couldn't come up with anything.

So the sub-question is: are guitar solos really the realm of male wankery, however good they might be? etc.

Check out Jennifer Batten for female guitar wizardry. Or Kaki King though she's instrumental so I'm not sure any of it counts as a solo.

I think she had some band back in the day but she just plays solo now. I think she's from Serbia.

She's quite the blues guitarist isn't she?

She's very sexy in addition to being able to throw down a mean blues lick.

Can't believe I never heard of her. When I started playing guitar I secretly hoped I was a prodigy and would be able to do the kinds of things she does. Sadly that is not my artistic outlet, I am not able to paint with that kind of brush.

^agreed. most female guitarists i have seen have about 15 pieces of metal stapled to their faces and tend to snarl while they shred it wearing their wife beater and cargo shorts

didn't what's her name from the Breeders have a sister that was in the band that played that song after Tyler Durder blew up the credit unions. Both of them were good but isn't ironic that it didn't take a devious mind like Tyler's to achieve his plan. He should have recruited Silk suit wearing morally bankrupt Wall Street Types. A lot more expensive but the goal was still achieved
