Yes, it was all because of Ben throwing the int. and accidently dropping the ball. Nothing to do with the Titans D.

Look I'm not trying to take away from the Titans D but Ben didn't protect the ball at all on either of his fumbles. If you're going to take off and run or move around the pocket with defenders all around you need to protect the ball

Sept. 21, 2008
Eagles 15 Steelers 6
http://www.nfl.com/gamecenter?game_id=29573&displayPage=tab_gamecenter&season=2008&week=REG3

It was over when ...
Steelers backup QB Byron Leftwich (http://www.nfl.com/players/byronleftwich/profile?id=LEF677964) threw incomplete on fourth-and-10 with 35 seconds remaining to end Pittsburgh's slim chances of an improbable comeback. The Eagles took over on downs and kneeled down to run out the clock.
Game ball
This contest featured a dominant performance by the Eagles' front seven on defense, but not to be overlooked was the sensational effort from Philadelphia punter Sav Rocca. Rocca punted three times in the fourth quarter and all left the Steelers in challenging field position and allowed the Eagles to keep the defensive pressure on.
Key stat
The Eagles recorded nine sacks and a safety and had at least twice that many knock-downs. And those numbers don't count the four times Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger (http://www.nfl.com/players/benroethlisberger/profile?id=ROE750381) barely escaped sacks and was credited with 6 total rushing yards. If Roethlisberger was less elusive, the Eagles very easily could have tallied 15 sacks or more.
Noteworthy
Eagles RB Brian Westbrook (http://www.nfl.com/players/brianwestbrook/profile?id=WES537220) left in the second quarter with an ankle injury and did not return. ... Roethlisberger left late in the fourth quarter with a hand injury and did not return. ... The Steelers did not have a play of 20 yards or more until Heath Miller (http://www.nfl.com/players/heathmiller/profile?id=MIL243606)'s 21-yard grab with less than two minutes left. ... In one eight-play stretch of the second quarter, the Steelers gave up five sacks, committed a false start penalty and threw an interception. ... Pittsburgh did not get into the red zone until its final drive. ... Donovan McNabb (http://www.nfl.com/players/donovanmcnabb/profile?id=MCN017517) set a new Eagles franchise record with his 176th career touchdown pass.

9 sacks and a safety.
Roethlisberger is too slow and holds on to the ball too long for Jim Johnson'd Blitz packages.

One of the most storied histories, smart ownership, with only 3 coaches in their history.

RobMoney$

Yesterday's game was a microcosm of his entire career.

Eagles take the lead 25-24 and Warner methodically leads his team to an 8 minute drive downfield to a touchdown and 2pt. conversion to go up by 7.

with 2:53 to go in the 4th quarter,
1st - McNabb throws short to Westbrook
2nd - McNabb throws over D.Jackson
3rd - McNabb throws behind H.Baskett
4th - McNabb throws to K.Curtis, who was interfered with by Rod Hood, no flag.
Game Over, Eagles Lose.
In reality, he was inaccurate all day long.
How about that deep pass to Greg Lewis's wrong shoulder. He had Rod Hood beat by 5 steps and McNabb found a way to blow it.
But you look at the box score and you see he had 375 yards and 3 TD's and think he must have had a good game.

McNabb is now has 1 win in 5 Conf. Championships,
4 of which he was favored to win (including yesterday),
and 3 of those were home favorites.

...and we're not even going to bring up the fact that HE PUKED in the 4th quarter drive of the '05 Bowl in which they lost 24-21.

Burnout18

Besides TO I can't remember 1 above average WRs he's had at his disposal. Pinkston? Thrash? Baskett? IMO, Jackson & Avant might be the best looking 1 2 punch he's had.

I know his NFC Championship history isn't very good but how many championship games you think this team gets to with an Orton or Detmer type?

I agree with all of this. But whats the alternative. Philly wants a championship now. They bring in a new coach, quarterback or both it'll take at least 2 seasons to rebuild. I say give McNabb a quality receiver and one year. If they don't get it done then fire McNabb and Reid!!!

RobMoney$
01-20-2009, 06:32 PM
Here's my opinion on the whole "McReid" situation.

I have enough evidence at this point to know that McNabb just doesn't have what it takes to win a Championship.
Joe Montana doesn't throw up in the 4th quarter of the Super Bowl, McNabb did.
Tom Brady doesn't throw 3 putrid passes with the game on the line with under 2 mins, McNabb does.

As a lifelong Eagle fan, I'm ready to turn the page.
Maybe Kolb's the answer, maybe he's not, I don't know. But at some point we have to make the move because I've seen enough of McNabb's choking in big situations.
Sometimes you have to take a step backwards in order to take two steps foward.

As for McNabb's numbers being HOF worthy, I have two words for you.

DREW BLEDSOE. - 44,000 yds passing, 251 TD's, and he's got a ring (even though Brady won it for him).
Sometimes it's not about "numbers".
Troy Aikman and Terry Bradshaw aren't HOF QB's because of their "numbers".

If you watched the game this weekend, you'd know that blitzing Warner is a lost cause. It's the last thing the Steelers should do.
I'd tell you the best way to try to hope to slow down Fitz and Warner would be to press him at the line and hope the refs let you get away with it.
Tell Ike Taylor to get physical with him at the line, get his hands up in his face and try to disrupt the timing of his routes.

Well, The blitz did get to Warner in the second half, especially in the third Q.

I dunno, i think the cards offense played to philly's aggressiveness.... quick slants, and that seam route to the slot reciever on 3rd and 15..... The more I think about it, the more actually think this is going to be a great game, especially when warner is on the field facing off with that pittsburg defense.

I can't help it, man. I can't get away from asshole Eagles fans. I have a handful of friends around here that never waste any time rubbing it in or talk shit on the Steelers. All I get are retarded backhand compliments about the Steelers. Then when it gets serious during the season, and the Eagles inevitably shit the bed, they constantly root for the other team just to get under my skin. Sounds alot like Rob, huh? You know why? BECAUSE EVERY EAGLES FAN IS LIKE THAT!!! I always laugh my friend's comments off because I couldn't care less about the Eagles. If they were in the AFC, yes, but they're not. Truth be told, before I met these friends of mine, I'd probably root for the Eagles if they ever made it to the Super Bowl. But after years of stupid remarks riddled with jealousy and resentment, there's no way that would happen now. So fuck'em all. It's my time.

I changed my avatar because the SB is over, I've moved on. Maybe you should too.
I rooted for the team that knocked my team out, the underdog.
I always root for the underdog, especially when the fans of the favorite are being as smug as you're being.
I told you several times I liked the Steelers and respected the way they played. It just doesn't seem to be enough to satisfy you. WTF do you want man? Should we all bow down on our knees and worship your team?
There's two fucking teams in the SB, I picked one. If that makes me a bandwagon jumper in your book then you're an idiot.

Secondly, I'll always be the first person to criticize my teams shortcomings before I "talk shit" about someone else's team.
I can't stand McNabb or Andy Reid and I know we'll never win a title until they're gone. I've said that several times on here as well.
I was happy when my team had a chance to go to the Bowl, but I also was a little pissed because I knew they ultimately would fail and the further they got, the more reasons the Eagles had to keep McReid around after the pathetic season they had. They were 9-7 and backed into the playoffs because Michael Bush ran roughshot over Tampa the last game of the year and the Bears lost.

Anyway, CONGRATULATIONS to your team and to you. They were the better team that day, and they proved it.
I still think the refs fucked up the game with that roughing the passer call, the roughing the holder call on the FG, and the fumble call on Warner in the last drive, but Warner fucked up by throwing that INT. to Harrison at the end of the half.
Cardinals score there and then get the ball right back to start the second half and it's a completely different game.

Also, Lebeau took my advice and jammed Fitz at the line all day. That's what the Eagles should have done if they didn't suck.
