Man, I had one of the worst experiences of my life with a cockroach burrowing itself into my ear at 5am on Christmas eve, resulting in spending 6 hours at emergency while various medical professionals tried to dig the sucker out.

Started out sleeping, when the damned thing landed right on my left ear and crawled right in with me freaking and clawing at it trying to get before it went to far and Mazz grabbing at it with tweezers. Then the mad dash to hospital with this thing moving around inside my head (truly the most unpleasant feelings I have ever had), the RN's pouring olive oil in there to kill it and trying to float it out. The registrar had a crack at it with various weird and wonderful medical implements and he couldn't do it. The saving grace was the ear, nose and throat doctor who had an excellent Austrian accent, very similar to Arnie:

Doctor: 'You have a cockroach in your ear?'

Me: 'Yep'

Doctor: 'No-one can get it out?'

Me: 'No'

Doctor: 'I will get it out'

Even he had trouble with it, prompting him to warn me that if he did not get it this time, I will be prepped for surgery to remove it under general anaesthetic. I think he was having a joke with me because he did pull it out, and he knew that he would get it that last time. It looked to me to be about the size of my thumbnail

It hurt like hell because I had things jabbed in my ear for about 2 1/2 hours straight. And everytime I think about the feeling of that bug moving in my head I get shivers and is something I would wish on no-one.

So theres my Christmas story, and a Merry Christmas to all on the board

You should really clean your ears once in a while Scotty! Fnar!

But on a serious note: Crikey. That is awful. Was there blood? Was the cockroach gorging itself on your inner ear tissue? Any lasting damage?

My Christmas eve didn't go too well. Finished work and went to get a pizza, ended up defending the pizza maker man's honour and fighting a drunken moron who broke my glasses.

Faaaaaakingggggggggg Ayyyyyyyy, dude!

i've heard of this happening to people in nyc. some people sleep with earplugs in for this reason here i hear. at least you didnt stick your foot into a squishy mess of a shoe only to pull your foot out and find a twitching snicker snack-sized waterbug parts slathered all between your toes. it happened to someone i know. actually, i dont know which is worse.

Gareth: Love it. Imran's a solid cricketer.

Pres: No, no lasting damage or blood. And I hope you broke that dickheads face.

Audio: It wasn't alive long enough for that thankfully. It was quite large and I felt it as soon as it went in and for about 45 minutes afterward while it was scratching around in there

Mikizee: This is a torture technique apparently. I can see why.

Bionic: The roach is worse. The other thing would be fairly unpleasant but you can pull your foot out and clean it up quick smart. A bug crawling around next to your eardrum is shit.

Nastee: I did have a heart attack...freaked out completely clawing at my ear and skin. My wife, a psychologist, was very firm in telling me to calm down when we got to the hospital cause there was a decent chance they'd stick me in the psych ward. Its quite common for mad cunts to present with this, apparently.

a-z: I'm fine now, I've had issues with balance for the last few days but thats pretty much passed now.

Thanks, all.(y)(y)
