View Full Version : why do men need muses?

I'm kind of sick of the muse thing. like women are expected to be amazing creatures that captivate men. it's annoying.

I just got a message from some dude online that was like, "I've been looking for a muse, can you motivate me to take pictures"...blah blah blah, etc.

fuckin, make your own life, don't look to other people to complete you or "inspire" you.

I don't know. I guess it's more of a question of why people put other people on pedestals, or count on them to make their lives better.

I'm just annoyed and I can't sleep.

I think women do the same thing to a certain extent.

all i expect out of a female is for her not to be useless. like when she tries to force-talk to you about how she spent two and a half hours painting her finger/toenails last night. shut the fuck up. why couldn't you spend two and a half hours bleeding to death in your tub after you slit your wrists? useless twat.

They dont - this is one of those things men do because they think it increases the probability that you will sleep with them. Men do a lot of things for no reason other than they believe it will make them appear interesting or mysterious to chicks.

Very true! Its pretty insane, that even in my sanest moments, just because it seems like there is a chance a women might give you a little bit of sexual attention I'll say or do the creepiest thing I can.

But an easy save is to put :-p or :-) at the end cus then it changes the meaning to more playful.

:p

I think anyone who talks about "muses" should be avoided because they are very likely to be either a total douchebag or a paedophile.

I saw this girl for a while who had previously been in a relationship with a guy who treated her this way. From what she said, his room at uni was covered in photos and paintings of her and he was extremely jealous of any guy who looked at her. We didn't last long, the previous relationship had made her weary about developing any real emotional attachment because she was scared of it happening again. I'd have never treated her in that way although I often thought she had an ass like an artisan had spent his whole life loving crafting it.

methinks you were secretly a wee bit chuffed to be considered a muse, no? ;)

wait, what does "chuffed" mean again?

I don't know if I was or not. I mean, flattered perhaps, but the creep out factor overshadowed it.

who wants a muse?

it's all a ploy to get someone in bed, or it's someone with an obsessive personality.

I think when women have muses it's more about admiration, not obsession or feeling some sense of ownership.

What about Andy Warhol and Edie Sedwick? Must be the obsessive personality one.

i never expected my missus to be a muse but she has shown faith in my ability and given me confidence to do stuff i never had the bottle to do before, djing, going for certain jobs etc. I am very grateful to her for believing in me but its not something i ever expected of her or wished for or used to get her into bed. i do see the point of it being creepy if someone uses it as a line but i am glad i have someone who supports me.

uh...personally I like being a muse. if someone says I inspire them in some artful way that's a good thing.

muses aren't always women you know. I've had my own muses and most of them have been men.

btw...it isn't always about sex either...and if you look up the word muse you won't find obsession anywhere in the definition.
perhaps people are misusing this concept to be something seedy, but it's never been that way in my experience.
