Tremendous work. Pauls Boutique/Check Your Head they went mad with the samples. Definitely my favorite time period of theirs.

I had no idea of the depth and eccentricity of sampling they did on Check Your Head until I started putting this compilation together, but literally every track they sampled for CYH was a JAM unto itself.

Great work. I know how much time this must have taken. I compiled my own Paul's Boutique samples comp a little while ago. I had no idea someone else was doing the same! See my tracklist at the link below. Your compilation is missing a few of these. But I discovered from your list that I was also missing a few tracks (Burundi Black, the correct version of I Bet You, and A Suite for Strings). Let me know if you need any of these. I think the links are dead...

I'm listening to the CYH mix as I type this... B Boys w/ The Freak Freak! Niiiice!

It's cool to see how often they sample from the same sources. Funky Boss's use of Richard Pryor is quite impressive too.

Just an FYI:

I complied this all on my own and didn't heist this from a torrent, another blog, etc. I've seen my compilation all over the net (torrents, blogs, soulseek, etc) but I'm definitely the OG upper & compiler!

@ CJ Hood: whereas Big Daddy Kane reps on the track, it's actually a track by Marley Marl.from his "In Control" album.

I'm going to re-up the files soon as I've found several of the "missing samples" from the previous releases. I'm actually going to pick up some vinyl after work tonight and one of the records was sampled in "Professor Booty" so stay tuned for that.

Again, I'm glad y'all dig and trust me when I say that there's more goodness to come......

i actually happen to have most or all of these but they are just scattered throughout my itunes ... now i have them in separate folders which is huge ...

*** by the way i think there are 1 or 2 that you may be missing ( obviously that is to be expected & would happen when compiling such a crazy list of samples )

at first glance there is one im pretty sure i think you are missing is called : " Shoreline Drive " by Sammy Nestico ... for pauls boutique ... ill let u know if i find others but i give u tons of props for doing this !

**** I actually found a link to it on youtube for a quick reference ... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qtp2UH4T1XM

EDIT :

it's sampled and used on b boy bouillabaisse ... " dropping names "

the lyrics that follow the sample are something like this : If your world was all black and if your world was all white
Then you wouldn't get much color out of life now right

the lyrics that precede the sample are :

He thrusts his fists against the post and still insists he sees a ghost
He thrusts his fists against the post and still insists he sees a ghost
She's slippin through his fingers as she's movin' out to the coast
He thrusts his fists against the post and still insists he sees a ghost

and then the sample is used to transition into the rest of the song starting with If your world was all black and if your world was all white ...
*it's the first part of Shoreline Drive by Sammy Nestico slowed down and looped

Good looking out, but what you're talking about is the bass line from The Crusaders' "The Wells Gone Dry" and drums from Sweet's "Into The Night". It sounds mad-similar though.....

wow ... your totally right ... i googled shoreline drive after i posted and didnt see any mention of it being associated with paul's boutique ... so i started to wonder ... but then when i listened to it after getting your PM yesterday it seemed to fit

I do have that crusaders song in my itunes library ... it says its from southern comfort album !

I think i may of came across shoreline drive on my own ... it was probably listed in an " ultimate samples/breakbeat " list w/o being linked to any particular song

... so when i downloaded it and gave a listen i automatically labeled it as that track from pauls boutique ... thanks for helping me clear that up ... as i said my sample library is a mess and needs organization ... lol

have to admit they sound very very similar. i did know that the sweet drum sample was also used cause i have that in my library ...

.. and I am also downloading your pauls boutique sample pack ( i need to have them all in one place ) !!!! - this is such a killer post.

Also, I see that you may have included a list of tracks ... i cant open it ( maybe cause i have a mac ) ... if it is not too much trouble can you or anyone who reads this maybe cut and paste the list or something when you get a chance ? thanks

you the man

EPMD is sampled/scratched in but not Eric B & Rakim....as far as I know. What part of the track are you talking about?

Nope...it's the same download from a few days ago with the corresponding track listing. In other words; it' doesn't get any fresher than this.

Who put this shit together? You need to be recognized by the bBoys for that.. I put that whole PB stuff on an MP3CD and popped it in my stereo and sat there for 8 hours listening to that stuff.. Incredible...

I'm gonna re-up all of the links really soon with additions and whatnot. I just picked up some vinyl today that I'm gonna rip tomorrow that was sampled on CHY (Professor Booty).

Which Professor Booty sample did you add for the CYH sample anthology?

Some Freddie Prinze goodness...."looking good". It's sampled during Ad Rock's first verse right after the line "...drinking up the Shasta, my voice sounds sweet cause it has to..."

I haven't re-upped the Check Your Head samples but there are quite a few other additions that I've made to it.
