Yeah it seems that there are 'better' fans than others, no matter how long one has been listening to this band. That it's some secret society shit that attempts to dictate what I'm supposed to know or think about one of my favourite acts is fucking weak.

This kind of post you're making is the same attitude that affects so many who have gotten close to the band (be it personally or vicariously). It's what made Miramanee publicly humiliate people she calls her 'friends' (seeing her chide Pooty in the past was disturbing - she falls out with everybody, it seems) on here - and flip the fuck out like a spoiled brat about that Portland show; it's what got that Billy "get excited for the DVD" dickhead banned, and I was worried it was affecting Micodin the other day (hopefully it wasn't).

Ironic that 3 of the humblest people on the planet inspire such simple self-serving arrogance. Get over yourselves.

For the record, I don't even know Izzy.

Kid Presentable
01-24-2009, 04:00 AM
I'm not saying anything about Izzy. And I'm all for people enjoying the band. But the "we know more, we're close to the band" is just as big an insult as much of the pettiness going around here. Again, Izzy didn't say that, but it didn't take long for somebody to make mention of how 'in the dark' the second-rate fans are.

In 04 I was happy that people got to know the band, and then it became something to be lauded over others. Some people even use it to try and represent "the fans" and what "the fans" want. Like some stupid committee. It's mental.

Thanks Izzy, for the photos.

because there is not one of the above videos or pictures in this thread anywhere on the mic to mic page.

surely you checked it this morning?

and I agree with Kid's Presentation, but there is no exclusive fan knowledge here, it's that fans want to come to the message board to get a link for some videos and pictures from an exclusive concert instead of having to read the same scene from the afterschool special every time someone reports back from a show.

am i making myself ambiguously yet exclusively clear?

no one gives a fuck anymore.

please stop ruining threads, Rob. In the end, you're the big winner.

A friend of mine's grandmother came to live with her and her family for the last few months of her life. She was blind and paranoid and delusional due to Alzheimer's. This caused the end of her life to be rather horrific, especially on her grandkids whom she would spend all of her time screaming and cursing at because she was mistakenly reliving family drama from generations ago with them. It was disturbing and upsetting and ultimately very sad.
I'm reminded of that because of this nonsense.

Wait...is this shit directed at me? Jesus. I didn't say a fucking thing about anyone being 2nd rate fans or any shit like that. I was commenting on the fact that a couple of grown ass adults are taking shots at Izzy and other member's "relationship/acquaintance" with her and they don't have any clue who she, or me, or anyone else on here is. That was what was funny to me. Shitting on people and acting like they have a fucking clue about them, their life, or who they are "reporting" back to.

I didn't say shit about anyone being 2nd rate, Kid P. Don't put words in my mouth or insinuate things from my posts. I've been here for a pretty long time and I've met a lot of members from here behind the scenes. Most of them didn't even have a "golden ticket."

I think I deserve a little more respect than that. Or am I getting lumped into the "elitist" group with people I've conversed with 2 or 3 times in line for a fucking concert??????

There is no clique. And what exactly do you find ridiculous? The fact that someone went to a show and posted some nice snippets here? Fuck.

Let's face it Doc, there's a reason why we still talk about her years after the fact. She was that crazy. And I guarantee the next show I go to, she'll be right there in line hours before the doors open so she can monopolize the front row yet again.

To my knowledge, CJ's interview is still missing from Beastiemania.
So if we're going to start talking about personal vendetta's years after the fact, there's enough embarressing things to be thrown around on both sides.

I wasn't going to go into any of the things Miramanee's done, but since you brought it up I'll respond.

I don't follow her blog. I don't need to.
I've seen her act for myself in person. The Elbow2Elbow monopolizing of the front row, the notebook to copy down the setlist and "banter", the cellphone to send her pics to her blog because she thinks she's that important that people are online waiting for them.
I mean seriously, who comes to a Beastie show with a fucking notepad?

And there is no assumption that she tries to control "brainless minions", as you put it to do her bidding.
Anyone who knows anything about her knows it's true.

Edit:
For the record, I think Pshabi's a solid dude. Although he does have/had a friendly relationship with Miramanee, I don't think he'd ever intentionally try to come off as better than thou. He's just loosely associated with some of the people that do.
He's always been cool as ice with me.

I think we're all well aware of who the villains are on this board; the self righteous, the antagonizers. Cheapening the content of these threads to exercises in their own spite only brings out the worst in us all. This infection relies on participation. Damn. It took me ages to type my post and so you slipped in before me. You go all high road on me and then I follow with a long sniping post. :o You inspired me to delete the whole thing. Thanks for that. :)

I will say this instead: My interest in the Beasties is very up and down. I go for ages and ages without listening to them. But the concert they did here for Obama was such a nice gesture. Yeah, it was the same old setlist, but I had been through a really bad personal time that month and it was so nice to have them come to town and encourage people to get out and vote. It meant a lot to me on a goofy personal level. It probably didn't help Obama because he was going to win by a lot. But it might have helped Franken. He may win by less than 50 votes, if the lawsuits ever end. :p I'm glad that the Beasties decided to participate in a post-election concert as a bookend to the get out and vote tour. And I'm glad that Izzy got to go to that special event.

Oh, and I regret that I didn't stand up front at the Chicago gala. I don't know what I was thinking.
