I made one, but then I keep forgetting about it. I was thinking maybe I would figure it out as time goes on because everyone on the t.v. is talking about it.
I kind of hate it and I still don't get it, and I don't think I want to get it.
but, check me out and add me as a friend! lol

gee80 is mine.
I don't use the one above, but we have been playing with it on our other one for business reasons.
But I'll follow ya.
Its basically like updating facebook all the time and sending SMS to every1 who has twitter.

why?
why?
say if you was at a party with free booze and every1 was welcome. You could tweet it just the once and they would arrive.
Or say if some1 tweets you to say there is a party with free booze, you'd arrive.
I'm hoping they'll be free booze one day

oh. I still don't get how that's better than texting. especially when nobody I know in real life is on twitter.

Well it needs to get popular. Plus twitter is free if you have an unlimited data plan on ya phone.
But you can also join networks and there is already people out there who you could tweet to say if you are in a random city where is a good restaurant and get replies.
http://www.guardian.co.uk/travel/2009/jan/28/twitter-travel-trips is an experiment in using it.
I don't get twitter, but I do get twitterpated.

ugh. too much. I mean...I get it...but seriously, who wants to constantly be telling everyone what they're doing all the time? or rather, who wants to read about what everyone is doing all the time.
where's the mystery? when I was in paris when I was a teenager, my friends and I got separated from the group we were traveling with and ended up in a non-touristy area. we were starving, spoke no french, and had no cell phones. we decided to just explore and found a deli which gave us ham and butter on baguettes and the ladies in there were very nice. and it was a great sandwich and the whole thing was a great experience.
now, if we'd had twitter, we probaby would've ended up at burger king with the rest of our group.
life is meant to be lived, not blogged about. hmph.
but now there is evil people about. People need to know where you are ALL THE TIME or they are missing out.
Back in the 90s it was safe to roam paris alone... Today, people have knives.

facebook is better and more controllable, imho. I used to get a lot of twitspam but now on fb, I don't get anything I don't want.
the status updates are cool when you're stuck in a meeting, waiting in line, or doing some other tedious task and think, "damn, I wish sarky were here so I could tell her about the guy who just walked by!" B I N G O.
It's for the voyeur in all of us.

I don't get twitter.
I really couldn't care less about knowing when one of my friends scratch their ass or get a drink from their fridge.
You're all correct. Its as pointless as facebook.
Constant updates on life and things. But imho Twitter is better. Short snap shots of what is happening is all people need to know generally
You don't need a computer for it as most of the world has a mobile these days.
You will get people who will over use it like facebook and myspace and they'll get spammy. But getting like a .rss feed on people that matter most to you can be handy. Far less planning and individual contacts if your friends sign up.
I am kinda championing it because I really dislike facebook. Its a very poor site for me but I did join it late. Twitter for business purposes is fantastic. If you have staff out on site and there is a constant update of less than 140 characters, it gives you a snapshop of what is happening. I don't mean everytime some1 takes a dump or get a drink. I mean when changing jobs or delayed etc.

someday it'll get to the point where people walk around with a camera on their chest
honestly....nobody is that important to twitter something about their life every 4 minutes
well the stalkers might find helpful

But, twitter is like a stripped down version of facebook. Less of everything. I think facebook will still be the stalkers app of choice. You don't 'HAVE' to update every 4 minutes y'know.

I still don't get it. I mean, the business thing especially. shouldn't people be doing their jobs instead of on their phones tweeting about everything that's happening. I guess I just don't see the practical applications.
maybe if I had it on my phone I would. but I don't, and I won't, because I have to pay for data.
but, you know, I used to hate text messaging and now I love it, so ANYTHING IS POSSIBLE!

I like it for simply random venting about shit. I wasn't too fond of when I had to partake in like almost IM discussions on it with all the @so and sos... I mean I just wanted to take out my thoughts on the keyboard and hit enter, not 'talk' to peeps.

somebody twit (twitter.com/011010) me
Not sure who runs the beastieboys twitter (who ever has their myspace it seems) but there is 555 followers and zero updates so far.
I am surprised at that with their recent repackaging of PB you'd of thought they would of done one to hype it up a bit more.
Sorry for putting a beastie related post here, but since this post exist, thought I'd use it.
somebody twit (twitter.com/011010) me

first it was AOL i think...
then a web that started with the letter X
umm then Live Journal, Okrut, Blogspot, Myspace, Tag, Facebook, Tumblr, Twitter, (maybe Fotolog?) I say everyone should just be with one and stick a few message boards.
That is like saying people should just stick with tapes since they do the job.
But technology has improved to become faster meaner and better. And its whatever you feel most comfortable with. I don't like myspace and facebook but I do like twitter. I don't like smart-phones but I do like netbooks. Some are the other way around and I will hate them for it but its there right to have a different choice in life.

dammit Adam, why are you being so rational?
I just dont see the point making an account after account in different social networks when websites like myspace are improving and still popular. They're improving old things and adding new gidgets just to keep the web updated or competing. The fact you already got friends and more so already establish a kind of social community in that network why would anyone make another and another account? I'm just saying one account should be just for friends you know close by and message boards just for the peeps that you socialize over the net. Whatever though I'm not the king of social networking.

I have a twitter question...
if you do a public reply to someone that your following, but they're not following you, do they see the message?

if you include their name, yes, they see it.
if you include their name, yes, they see it.
you ain't lying - I've just done it.
"Twitter has also become a social activism tool for socialists, human rights groups, communists, vegetarians, anarchists, religious communities, atheists, political enthusiasts, hacktivists and others to communicate with each other and to send messages to broader audiences. Extremist and terrorist use of Twitter could evolve over time to reflect tactics that are already evolving in use by hacktivists and activists for surveillance. This could theoretically be combined with targeting."
^^too funny, I love how paranoid we all are. It literally gave me the giggles reading that.
