I'm a pretty big fan the song T.B. Sheets but as far as albums are concerned I'm not really sure where to start. Also his discog is a tad confusing as I've noticed that some songs show up on multiple albums. I try to stay away from the whole greatest hits rip. Any help would be appreciated.

so wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Van_Morrison_discography) has somewhat cleared this up for me, but i still don't know where to start.

Cosmo recommended astral whatever the fuck it's called - it's good. And I like Moondance. Great vocalist, great songs on those two albums.

I find I skip tracks on Astral Weeks. I don't do this with Moondance. other albums of his I haven't really got into. meh when I'm older.

Astral Weeks is the musical equivalent to Ecstacy...

them. 'gloria' i guess, although my copy is an original so it's still 'here comes the night'

Like taquitos suggested, I enjoy his early work with the band "Them" intensely.

"TB sheets" is a fucking masterpiece.

Astral Weeks is brilliant, but it's definitely its own thing.

Moondance is probably his most accessible masterpiece.
Gotta get Tuepolo Honey.

I like Inarticulate Speech of the Heart a lot. Beautiful Vision, too. And A Sense of Wonder.

Into the Music is really good, but a little too studio-musician-sounding.

ok so i got astral weeks, moondance, tuepolo honey, blowin' your mind!, and veedon fleece. i have had all of these for a few weeks now and i must say astral weeks is 100% what i was looking for. i was completely blown away by this album. i love every single song which is very rare for me. i also thought veedon fleece was good but nowhere near astral weeks. i found tuepolo honey to be somewhat weak although i enjoyed the alternate take of wild night. moondance was good also but i did skip a few tracks. overall, great recommendations by everyone.

i did some research on Them and found that morrison was only on two albums of theirs which are out of print. once they're reissued i will do it up.

Van just released Astral Weeks Live at Hollywood Bowl (available on vinyl also). If it's anything like the performance I saw this past Saturday at MSG Theater, I would expect that to be a tasty purchase as well.

drome, there was something about Astral Weeks that hooked me from the very first listen and it is still there for me every time I hear it...
