My brother in law got dreads for his wedding (obviously to my sister before they was married).

I like dreads if they are well looked after. Its when they become one massive dread is when they look awful.

Anyway, my brother in law now spends more time on his hair than my sister - but he has stopped biting his nails cus of it as he has something else to fiddle.

seriously. I knew her before dreads and once she had them done (some music festival we all went to) it just suited her from the off like she should of been born with them.

Its like some hair won't suit everyone and I agree with that. But I dispute that it can only look good on black people.

There are some white people who look quite good with dreads, and some where it just looks horrible and ratty. I flirted with the idea of having them once, but realised I'd probably fall into the latter category. It's the same with facial piercings I think - some people you see with them, it looks good and complements their facial features, but then you see other people and you're just like, oh no, no no.

He has a very fair complexion (borderline ginger actually) but his dreads hang down to his ass and somehow he can roll with a tuxedo or a beater with equal prestige. If I could grow my hair like he does I would. Without hesitation.

You can still wash your hair - in a careful sort of way but not after first getting them - first couple of months or so. But you can use other techniques in between to clean them.

I don't think dread are for anyone who doesn't want to spend time on them. They aren't an easy cop out of never treating your hair again - which is how they get to that big one big dread stage which is just horrid.

I say rock on. Make sure you get it squared up right when you do the combing process. I think dreads look sexy on the right girl if they are fat enough( the dreads not the girl) (y)

If I do end up getting dandruff I just use some anti-dandruff shampoo like head and shoulders. Usually like every once a month. First month is a lot of playing and rubbing the dreads. Also use mineral that have rosemary and also sea salt helps tighten your dreads.

I think white people can have dreads, but it really only works if you have thick curly hair. you need that bulk, it ends up just looking gross if the dreads are too thin.

That's the main reason I never attempted it, my hair is just so straight that I knew they would be weird and manky, and I knew there was no way I would ever look like anything other than a white girl who was trying just too damn hard.
