Random Facebook friend day

So today I've received three requests to confirm friends, all very "out of the blue" types.

One is a guy I knew in the 8th grade. He moved to our town, lived there the one year and was gone. I mean it's totally cool to hear from him, he was a nice bloke and all, but not someone I would have ever expected to contact me.

Another is a woman who used to work with my husband. She's Chinese and heard we are moving to Shanghai and wants to stay in touch. OK, fair enough, but again, it never would have occurred to me she'd 'friend' me - we only met once!

The last is a guy I worked with in the early 90's who, truth be told, I found really kind of irritating. Not anyone I all-out dislike per se, but I just can't figure out why he would want to be back in contact, it's not as though we had anything in common except that we happened to work under the same roof.

I keep getting facebook friend invitations from people from school who either had a baby at age 12 and whose only aspirations involve working at McDonalds or those who used to beat me up when they were bored.

You had no interest in being my friends at school, so fuck off. If this was pre-internet days you'd never meet me again which is the way it should be. Get on with your lives and go and get some fucking GCSEs, then we'll talk.

I cancelled my account today. Not that you can cancel it - just suspend the fucker... I had no idea who most people were anymore. I felt like an old man at my school reunion, but the wrong year.

damn straight. I added one friend from school and now all the bullies and wankers and those that left to have children at 13 have got in contact.

Facebook has reminded me how much I hate so many people.

I actually really like Facebook and it's really handy for my family, spread out all over god's creation as we are. For the most part I like it when people from wherever find me, I just thought it was strange how I got three from such totally fringe people from completely different points in my life within like four hours of each other.
