and is it any good? Thinking of getting one as a personal phone cos my new company phone is the MC75. (http://www.zdnet.com.au/reviews/hardware/mobiles_pdas/soa/Motorola-MC75/0,2000065782,339291700,00.htm)
Fuckin brick of a phone. Fuck carrying that around on my days off.
that MC75 looks bloody horrible. I'm after a new phone too but the iphone in the UK is only on the O2 network and I have a better deal on orange.
You can hack iphones camo.
But getting iphone means you'll have an apple product which raises your douche profile.
Ain't Blackberry popular again because of the us president.

*types back on an mac*
Yeah but a hacked iphone can't do half of the cool stuff the original one can.
I mean - not changing the OS of the iphone, you can open it to other networks. But to some variable degrees of success. I know some1 who has a iphone on vodafone. But they are a uber geek.

im proud to say i got none
Why proud?
its the fanboy 'must have' crowd that associates you to a product.
we are all guilty of it. its just apple a certain following that are far too impulsive to praise whatever apple do. I'm not denying they have some some great products, just I am so put off by it all that I cannot subscribe to it and I buy an inferior/different model to not get an apple.
^^I know all that raises my douche profile but I can't help being a snob about such things.

adam my dear, you do realise that not buying for the the simple fact you don't want to be "like the others" is just as bad as buying to be... "like others".. right? not being harsh, i just hate this "it's popular ergo.. i'm avoiding it" attitude. it's like a fanboy 'must not have' crowd.
it's popular because it is good. i don't know much about the iphone, i don't have one (and i have no desire to pay more than the £8 per month i currently pay for my phone) but i love what i have seen/experienced of it. lots of people at work have them, but we work at a digital media centre, so it's sort of an extension of what we do. i have to go to a twestival or something or other next week. i have NO IDEA.
iphones have an enormous amount of very useful apps. eh, do some research and speak to people more clued up than me.. better yet, just have a play around with one. that's what i did. watch out though, you'll become one of those people who will google EVERY QUERY EVER at the pub just to prove someone wrong.. ha.
I understand, but apple do make great products that are worthy of praise.

Yes I do. Which is why I said it at the bottom if you read my whole post ;)

It's a very decent device. It's great to surf the web while sitting on the can at work.
I'm on mine right now, on break at work, not on the can though.
The typing was a little hard to get used to. If you go to a page on the Internet with alot of pics like the genius thread, it takes a while to load. Not sure if this is just my phone but it would sometimes close the browser and take me back to the homescreen if I was waiting for a page to load.
My keys used to stick while typing but this happened when I first got it, a year later and it's working better than ever.
Cool paid apps and also a good selection of free ones.
I'd say go for it.

you cant lump everyone who has an iphone as being a d-bag.
thats just gay. the whole oooo im not getting one because im cooler than the trendy people is the exact same thing as na§tee just pointed out.
if you think iphones are gay because you have tried one and they actually suck or your didnt like it thats cool. if you try and iphone and you just like it because it is a good phone and you like the aps than get it.
but i do agree there are those people who do get the iphone because its the latest trend. those people are d bags, you are right. but to not get it just because you dont want to seem trendy is the bizzaro gayness.
heres an example. i had always thought crocs were the gayiest fucking thing i ever saw. and i thought everyone who had them was a doush bag. however i was at my buddies a couple weeks ago and i took my shoes off because i was going into his house and they were wet. my feet were cold and he had crocs sitting there so i put them on just to warm them up a bit. to my surprise they were quite comfortable and i actually enjoyed wearing them. i am thinking about buying a pair because of it. not because they are cool, because i really do think they are gay. but because its a quality product.
there are dbags that buy or wear or do anything to look hip. they are dbags no doubt about it. but those assholes shouldnt stop someone from using a product that they might actually like or might come in handy for them.

i dont have an iphone cause i cant afford it :(
but also cause i dont buy things ONLY cause everyone else got them.. im out of highschool, sorry
checkyourprez - I agree with everything you say on labels.
What I was getting at is: I think every1 has a bit of douche in them. Its human nature - I know I do. I'm a fan boy of linux - which in some respects is worse than Apple. But I'm not blind like a lot of Apple users I like to think. I say a lot of Apple users, probably just a few % of them unlike linux but there is still more of them.
My first or second post here I said it was a great product. Its just the label it has for me now. I wasn't calling anyone here a douche. I was just saying, it raises your douche profile. But all other aspects of your life may lower it. But like nastee pointed out, I admitted before that being the the anti-crowd makes me as bad (but at least I'm £200 richer still).
Gah - its hard to explain, so nvm. Iphones of great /end
Maybe you can use iphones ironically soon?

OK so I got the iphone. Pretty cool so far, there are definitely some negatives with them (battery, sms, no mms) but i still love it.
Esp my 2 favourite apps, toiletmate which works out where u are and tells you the nearest public toilet and how long it will take u to get there, and ipity, which has mr T pop up and say a different quote every time u shake the phone.
Neato.

buy the products that suit your needs. I bought my iphone due to my job. I have very limited access to internet at work, the only access I get is on my phone. I can keep up with the news on the hour, I've got messenger to chat with my family, can check my email. All that good stuff. My job is the most important thing.
I listen to my headphones on the train to work. Instead of carrying an mp3 player and my mobile, it's all there in one piece and I really hate lugging more things than I need to while in transit.
I like taking random pics. This phone has a decent camera, not as good as some of these 3.2 pix cell phone cameras but I've learned to use it and I've got a nice collection of pics that have turned out very well.
I'm not a trendy person by any sorts, couldn't care less about what's fashionable. I follow up on what's the best choice and suitable for me and buy.
EDIT: welcome to the trendy club, mikizee, ya douche!!

I bought an iphone right when the 3G came out because my prior phone was broken and I figured that I love everything else apple. I wish I had found a way to wait for the new blackberry instead. I think blackberrys are better for my needs.
The email isn't near as good as blackberry and I find it awkward to use the phone while driving because my cheek can accidentally terminate the call if I don't hold the phone with my hand. On the other hand, I'm sure that it does many things that I haven't tried so I'm not getting the most out of it. I tried to play games on it but they were bad and I love my DS. A big part of my problem with the iphone is the fault of the US carrier (AT&T) so it might work better in other countries. Most of the time I can't get 3G access so I'm left using some other kind of access. I'm not sure that I've even had a 3G experience yet. When I was having trouble with emails, the apple store guy had me turn the 3G stuff off.
I will say this: If you're having trouble doing something with the iphone that you used to be able to do with another device, there is probably a work around but you have to go directly to apple for the help. I spent a couple of months where emails would rarely work at all and then the guy at the apple store taught me to reboot my phone daily. That was infuriating but it kept me going till service improved.
I had massive regret about getting an iphone for about 4-6 months but it's much better now. I try not to be an early adopter but this time my timing sucked.
You might as well be drunk than use a phone at the wheel.

nuh doubt. My great state of NY was the first to implement the no cell phone law. people are shitty enough drivers as it is, they dont need a cell phone in one hand distracting their dumbasses anymore than they already are.

Preach it man, preach it.
I'm guilty of being on the phone while driving and only on an open road with minimal traffic. That way if I happen to wreck, I hurt nobody but myself.
Even ear dongles do no justice for people, or hands fee setups people have in their car. Some people just can't freakin multitask but yet they try to.

not really any reason to drive holding your phone these days with bluetooth headsets as well. although they make you look like a willy as well.
i was going to upgrade to iPhone at the end of my current contract in a month, but after reading no mms, no multi sms and a downgraded camera from my n95, i don't think im going to.

I dunno, for me I hardly use MMS, multiple sms or the camera really. If I want a good quality photo then I use a digital. The phone is just so fun to use, it has absolutely everything at your fingertips, so many features and cool shit its not funny.
like - google earth and maps, gps
youtube
and a few apps i have are -
magic 8 ball
cocktail recipe book
food recipe book
list of adelaide restaurants
msn
google
shazam - if u wanna know a song thats playing on radio etc u press a button and it listens for 5 seconds analyses it then tells u the name of the song, artist.
ive even got a fuckin spirit level. that has turned out to be pretty accurate.

The iphone is one of the most incredible devices I have ever seen.
I was amazed by all the shit you could do with it before they even launched the app store. I think the app store is the best feature of the phone. They have apps for everything. I saw one today that counts cards for you in blackjack. There is one where you hum a song ((different than Shazam) and it will identify it. There is a DJ at my work that told me most of the music apps like the 4 track studio are legit. I read about the dude that invented the fart generator (allows people to record and send friends their farts now) made $40k on Christmas night alone selling his .99 application. I thought shit, I have to get in on this. I had an idea for an application that would use the acceleromter to tell you how drunk you are. I did a search and there is already 5 apps like that. There is an app that will gave you box scores of little league baseball games.
Giving away a software developer kit to anyone who wants it so Apple essentially benefits by making their product more attractive by having the creative masses develop software for their hardware is a stroke of genius.Their are all kinds of $99 nano iphone, video conferencing, and solar powered phone rumors out there. If you think people with iphones are being trendy and it makes you sick, be prepared to get allot sicker.

2 problems, the first is that because it is a touch screen, the phone would sometimes hang up while she was on a call.
This is a problem that only affects people with lumpy faces.

My iphone rules. Best phone I've ever had by far.
So suck my balls.

I'm considering getting one, especially now the new o2 contracts coming in April let me pay £35 a month and get the phone free. The only problem is that its a 24 month contract.

Absolutely, with an ever expanding list of available apps that can do just about anything you can think of, this phone just keeps getting better and better.
the iphone 3.0 software comes out in june/july which brings on board MMS, cut n paste, better search utilities, much better youtube, sms in landscape mode and tethering.

I just got an iPhone and spend the same amount monthly as I did with my normal phone that took crappy pictures.
Just because Apple descided to round the edges and make it look sexy doesn't mean you have to have a popped pink colar iZod to have one while you walk your poodle.
