But why do they never block?
It annoys me. (I know a lot of things do).
Jet Li is a hero to me and the only one who generally shows blocks in movies. But all others just leave themselves open.
I've done several martial arts and the first thing you are taught is how to block. Executing a punch is all well and good but if aren't blocking then you are leaving yourself open to all sorts of other attacks - especially armed attacks which instantly puts you at a disadvantage.
I would happily sit and watch a kung fu movie where most of the moves are blocking. Like Jet Li is a Tibetan Buddhist and all that, I bet he gets them to write in such moves. Well I say write in, I bet they just tell him to do what he does and film it.
