I think that it isn't Green Day's best song, but it is certainly their best known and for me it is on the same level as American Pie by Don MacLean. Outstanding song that seems to come from an unlikely place.

i like it a lot but it gets battered on films and "sentimental" moments on telly but its a classically simple track, its their best tune by a mile

I'll bet it's one of the most-played songs at funerals now.
After my Dad died a few years back i was thinking how wierd it was that i got over it really quick and never got sad or whatever, then i put some Green day on in the car one day and this started and the floodgates opened!

...lamest thing seinfeld ever did. it aired before the last episode, so it technically wasn't a part of the episode...
but still, before that it was like the like one sitcom to never pull that kinda shit.
they needed LD to guide them.
