So I got a coupon for $15 off some flowers, and I had a couple in mind who definitely deserved some acknowledgment for stuff they've been doing.

So I picked out a bouquet and hit "confirm" when I suddenly realized, "Oh, nice -- they add a $15 "handling fee" on top of shipping and all,
pretty effectively neutralizing my coupon and now making it a little too pricey for what I was getting.

So I got on the phone and cancelled the order pronto.

Okay, it's done. I got a cancellation email and everything.

Turns out they sent the flowers anyway.

One part of me says call them up and offer to pay the amount minus the $15 handling fee. Another part says, fuck them -- it's their mistake.

I do see that I got charged and I do see I got the refund, so that part's all squared away.

What would you do? I'm thinking I call them. About 70% of me says to call them.

I'd let this one go....

their mistake, your gain.

ok. matt gets this all the time at work. basically they send the flowers pretty quickly after the order. if you cancel it, they send an email to the carrier and tell them to "destroy the package". Maybe they didn't get the email until it was too late.

i've gotten many a free bouquet of flowers from those cancels.

until today. he exits his job today.

how can this be an ethical dilemma if you didn't notice their mistake? you didn't see anything, you had no reason to look nobody can prove it

no job. actually they're using him for 3 months as a corporate trainer. he can train managers to do their job, but he's not good enough to stay on with the company. nice.

that's fucked up. maybe they'll figure something out for him during the time he is doing training.

regarding the flowers, let it go. you canceled, they sent it anyway, not your fault. you would've paid for it if you knew it was going out. but as it stands, they probably just would've trashed the flowers if they caught them in time.

you just need to use the money you were originally going to spend on something nice for someone else. if you're worried about karma and such.

I had a $180 charge at Macy's run twice and the nightmare that followed ending up giving me a zero balance...

Needless to say I let that one slide and they never caught it.

I also received a $400 refund from my University once, completely random and a mistake on their part.

Let it go. It's a gift from the gods.

let it go.

if you have pre-planned this whole thing to get the flowers for free that is one thing.

but you bought it, than canceled it in good consciousness, something that happens all the time. they still sent it anyway, something you have no control over. so there really is no moral dilemma.

Agreed. It's just a good thing happening to a good person.

100% of me wonders why people buy flowers when you can just steal them from some cunts garden

I guess I wasn't the only person doing the proflowers.com rebate shuffle last week...

Think of it like this, pretend you earned the $20 I overpaid for my flowers by reviewing films via the bbmb. They make plenty of scratch on bogus holidays, don't feel bad for a second.
