My friends from Boston (Luann and Fernando) were in NYC for the weekend, so I took the train to Penn Station. To get to were they were I had to take the 1 Downtown Train to the F Downtown Train to Second and Houston Street.

Long story short, I was in the neighborhood of were the Paul's Boutique album cover was shot. We walked around to the corner of the Ludlow and Rivington, and boom there it was... or wasn't.

It's now a joint called Three Monkeys.

Anyhoo, I made my friend Luann snap a couple pics of me by the Ludlow sign and also across the street where Three Monkeys (Paul's Boutique) was.

It might sound corny to some (or most) but as many times I've been to NYC I have never had the time or chance to find the Paul's Boutique spot. i know a lot have been there already, or walk by it everyday... but it was kinda special and a nice moment.

End of story.

Cheers.

I was there a couple of months ago. I was looking for a store in that neighborhood and I was looking at my map, realized that I was close, and decided to do a detour and walk by. I felt silly but I did it.

Micodin

Yeah, I felt awkward at first... due to the fact I walk by "Tourists" taking pics of Independence Hall and the Liberty Bell daily.

But, I wanted my pics... so whatever. Heh.

There was also this guy with a big ass professional camera snapping pics of the streets right before I got there. I bet it's a daily occurrence. Maybe.

I was pissed that more people weren't taking pics.
People were just walking by looking like they had no idea why J and I were running around like we were at Disneyland.

I mean do people walk by the Eiffel Tower or the site of the Abbey Rd. every day oblivious to what they're walking by?

Jesus weeps for anyone's soul who doesn't stop there to take a pic.

I first visited NYC in 1992 and took a picture of the corner. This was pre-internet and my buddy and I actually took a subway to Brooklyn and looked in the yellow pages (because the phone number wasn't working). :D

We found a Paulette's Boutique and I have picture that'll I scan and post. Kinda funny.

We eventually found Ludlow and Rivington and I'll get that pic. posted. It pretty much looked exactly the same as in 89.

I can't wait to check it out your pics! I'm still kinda glowing from just knowing I was in a historic (for us fans) place to be. I wish I have gone sooner... but, whatever. I went.

I was with good friends, and the Beers and Brazilian food I had afterwards made it an even better experience. Best Valentines day ever (single or in a relationship)!

In Oct. of 2006, I ventured out to NYC from the dirty dirty south for the Gimme Shelter show in NYC. WOW, that was the show that will never be forgotten.

While there, me and some friends made it our biz to meet up at the Paul's Boutique corner.

Here are some of the pics:

Along with Paulette's Boutique in Brooklyn in 1992. The lower "Paulette's" sign looks kinda similar to PB logos on the front page. I guess.

It was taken with a regular old camera back in 92 and I just had it scanned today. It's a color picture...I think it might have been early in the morning so the color does seem a bit strange.

If anyone remembers SirDan he used to have a site that had a bunch of pictures of the PB corner that people submitted over time. Lemme see if I can dig up a link.

YoungRemy

nope. don't have the means to support such a feat. wouldn't know what to do with an 8' poster either. my entire motive from Day One has been to get the Bouillabaise back into my Itunes. Getting the CD from a local retailer.

I'm a simple man like Chauncey the Gardner.

RobMoney$
02-20-2009, 06:33 PM
So you mean to tell me that the only music you have on your Ipod is CD's that you have personally ripped from your own CD collection?

You do realize PB20 was available via torrents the day it dropped, right?
And I mean if worse came to worse, you could have just DL'd the original version.
It's not as if you haven't already PAID for the album and are flat out stealing it or anything.

YoungRemy

i actually just got my first ipod this last winter. so yeah, right now it's pretty much just my entire CD collection as catalogued.

my old PB cd works fine in the home stereo, it just the last track didn't transfer into itunes properly. rocking LTI, CYH, and now PB cassettes in my '97 Toyota.

and I guess I just don't download much. I only use my Itunes account when they give me a free download when buying a concert ticket.

if I recall correctly, I have the audio ripped from AIFST, the "Original Intergalactic" and remix or two by some posters here...

RobMoney$

I'm kind of an Ipod nerd. Got the 160gb model.

I carry around almost 130gb's of music with me everyday,
5gb's of which are Beastie material.
Got all the studio albums and singles,
probably a dozen live shows,
the Aifst remixes,
the Criterion Collection remixes,
the Green Lantern Mixtape,
the Beastie vs. Led Zep Mixtape,
the Cheap Cologne vs. Beastie Mixtape,
the 15 "Collected Mixes" albums,
Demo the Boutique,
Dub the Boutique,
Dr. Numbers Mixtape,
The Young Aboriginals album,
the Young and the Useless album,
and I'm not even counting the hundreds of songs I have under the "Beastie Samples" file that they've sampled from.

and that's only a portion of the stuff I have on my computer.
I got most of it from the Hub back in the day.

You got some good sh@ on yer ipod... the collected mixes have been evading me for years, I think I got the first 10 volumes and then ...kaput no more (damn I want the complete set). What ever happened to the hub, I haven't been able to connect to it for a while. Is it over and done with or am I missin' something. I found out about it too late in the game, now nobody is sharing anymore. I got some good stuff to share but can't seem to get connected. Dammit....... Is there something I need to do to get get connected or is it over and done fer. Sorry I'm alittle out of the loop but, the hub seems like a badass setup, it should be available to all. Someone needs to set it up again.(y):):eek:
and so on and so forth...

Sorry I'm drunk,... I had a date with a very sexy lady and now she's asleep in my bed... life is good:D

I still want the hub up so i can get mi dirty hands on the rest of the collected mixes, and then some

Ha, I love your priority to post and read what's been going on the BB Messageboard while you have a sexy lady sleeping in your bed.. I respect your dedication.

My collection of the Beasties on my iPod is ridiculous as well. I have a bunch of different playlists.

Hardcore
'92-'96 Hip-Hop
The Mix-Up & B-Sides
Live Shows
Paul's Boutique & B-Sides

And everything else in between. I've personally had one iPod crash a few years back, so everything I own is backed up on a external 500 gig hard drive. I know I have no where near the collection Paul B has... But, I got a little something something.

he he, this place is like beastie CNN for me. Always good info being thrown around. I had the same thing happen to me with an ipod. I bummed many cd's from friends and put them on an old 20GB model. Then one day the little bastard stopped working on me. So I updated all my music to an external hd, I also put the important stuff on dvd's so if the hard drive goes I still have a hard copy.

Yes, I wouldn't. I know it's hard to imagine in your mind a world where someone wouldn't buy something Beastie related, but it's true.

based on your (impressive) collection above, I call BS on this statement when the new album drops under the title "Tadlock's Glasses"

L.O.L. your Beastie collection trumps mine by a mile...

RobMoney$
02-24-2009, 06:10 PM
Tadlock's Glasses is a pretty dorky title.
Makes me worry that it'll be filled with rhymes like America and hysterica.

Micodin

Let's put it this way, if the new album is called tadlock's glasses I won't be buying it. In fact I'd suggest you not even be seen walking in public with it under your arm.

I'm gonna hold you to your word that you won't be buying the new record if it is called Tadlock's Glasses. ;)
