I want to start a thread about Wii Fit because I wanted to talk more about it in the other thread :o

So Wii Fit owners, what do you think? How long have you owned it and do you notice it making a difference? Which exercise and/or games do you do most?

I do the one where I get in my car and go to the gym.

I do that too. Except I walk or bike to the gym.

Wii Fit is just a fun thing to supplement a regular routine with.

Why does everybody have more money than me?!

the Wii itself my boyfriend snagged from his Mom. She never used it so he said "name your price", she sad "take all your crap out of my house". Done.

For Christmas they gave me a $75 gift certificate to Best Buy. I only had to pay $10ish bucks for the Wii Fit.

Believe me, I'm broke.

I also mentioned that I walk to the gym. I do not own a car. Mainly because living in the bay area = good public transit & having a car = too much money. It helps.

Last year I used it for about 4 months (60 minutes nearly every day). And it really helped (in terms of body-shaping and losing weight). I always started with some yoga (sometimes 10 mintues jogging warm-up) then strength training and then I did the 12-minute-boxing-aerobic (the best for me!).

Everybody says it does not replace a gym but I would never go to a gym regularly - so it would be a total waste of money for me. But I think it's not bad to have someone watch you during the training to correct you (as there is no mirror). Anyway: I really like it and it helped me do at least something instead of just getting home late after work and sit n the couch... (y)

How lucky you are. I guess if I didn't have a car I'd be richer.

I like the way this went from a casual conversation about the Nintendo Wii to people savagely eyeing up each others financial situations in fewer than 10 posts.

I thought the balance games on Wii Fit were pretty fun. My parents bought one. We've been considering it.

I'm able to purchase a Wii and drive. And a gym membership, if I so desired. Probably a pizza after playing the Wii Fit.

is it savage though, really?

I just know how nuzz feels. I see people talking about certain games o rother items and wonder how can people afford it. Especially because I want stuff too :p So I thought I'd share about how I went about having the Wii & Wii Fit. That's all :)

I loled so much at the Wii Bairns comment. But it sort of sounds like she's a kiddie fiddler.

I don't have a wii fit, I use this thing:http://www.amazon.com/My-Fitness-Coach-Nintendo-Wii/dp/B001H0RZX2/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1?ie=UTF8&s=videogames&qid=1234912490&sr=8-1

I decided to get it instead because it's a third of the price of a wii fit. also, it has really good reviews and some of them say it gives a more comprehensive work out. I'm pleased with it so far, even though it's not really a game. or fun. it's a billion times better than a DVD.

my wii was a gift. and I don't have a car.

i love my wii fit but i have the attention span of a fruitfly. i played with it obsessively for a week, then i started wanting to run, so i dropped it.

i'm gonna play it soon.

the push ups were KILLING me. i did not like the yoga. but i really liked the balance games.

** in case this is necessary, both wii and wiifit were gifts :)

To clarify, when I said I go to the gym, I really meant I go to the mall to sit.

That was in poor taste.

Pauli! THOSE PUSH UPS! God damn I suck. I have zero upper body strength. I'm working on it and I've improved... but not enough to handle doing more than maybe 4 push-ups :( haha. I need to do girly ones next time.

My boyfriend murders that exercise though. Freakin boys and their arm strength.

I warm up for 5-10 minutes with the balance games, mostly the ski ones. Then I just to the cardio stuff. I do the island lap, then the 10 minute session of hula hoop, followed by the advanced step aerobics, and then I usually finish with the boxing. If I need more cardio I do the freestyle step aerobics. I usually finish with yoga, which I love, but I've also started doing the strength training. Eff push ups though.

I just got my bronze piggy bank!

I bet it's hard to push up because your boobs are a slave to gravity.

So it's pretty fun actually, I will be trying to use it as much as I can. Cuz I put a goal down of 20 pounds in 1 month.

DOES IT WORK?

like does it redefine slimness and sturf?

Sturfing sounds like surfing using the Wii balance board.

probably.

I need to start doing chest exercises at the gym I think to help build up a bit. I think I can barely do 20 pounds on a chest press hahaha. I'm so weak up top :(

I graduated from 5 lbs weights to 8lbs though for bicep curls, raises, etc. And I graduated from 8lb weights to 12lb weights for bent over rows! I know that's not much but considering how weak I was when I started I'm proud of myself.

I feel like Wii Fit is more just to supplement what I already do; weight training, cardio (bike, elliptical, stairs), pilates, exercise ball, bosu. I still need to try the resistance bands. Point is: I don't know of the impact it'd have on someones fitness if it is all they use. It certainly couldn't hurt though if you don't do any other exercise though I imagine.
