There is some sexist bullshit here - I was thinking most of it was teasing but I do think some believe in this sexist stuff.

These days, I think more men are vain and full of crap than women - I know there is that on both sides. Most of my friends are female and I think they have a more varied interest than their counterparts. In the past, my male friends interests just go as far as football - its all it bloody is and it occupies everything they live and breath to the point of violence.

I find with women that although they might watch the crappy soap now and then and spend far too long talking on their phone but they are willing to try new things. Most men are like; 'thats gay'. Pfft, so what - its better than pissing £50 up the wall every other night in the name of football.

Now yes there are plenty of women who can change their oil or who are contentious about maintaining their cars, but in a demographic of people you are looking at a broad generalization of the people who make up the demographic. women who care about their cars are not necessarily a majority.

Second, in case ya hadn't noticed, we are in the midst of a major economic crisis. All businesses are desperate for business. Now if you're a young single mom...are you going to have oil change at the top or your list of things to spend money or or do you think maybe feeding your children would come first? when people don't have alot of money they only spend money on things they feel are a necessity...and I'm sorry but for many women, if the car is running ok they are probably going to spend money on other things.

I have a nagging sense of obligation to care about girly, shallow, self-involved things like my hair or fashion or whatever. In a way I don't want to care about this stuff, but I can't shake the suspicion that drives me to spend time on how I look and how I want to look. Basically my suspicion is that if I don't care about, and spend time and effort on my appearance, my life will fall apart.

I know it's crazy! It doesn't make any sense! Of course my life wouldn't fall apart if I stopped caring about how I looked or how I function in society as a feminine-type person!
