Anyone else received their PB order yet?

I ordered the $18.99 CD version at feb 2nd, but still I haven't received my order yet.
Strangely enough Topspin Media does not respond to my emails either.

I got a reply from someone from Topspin who read this post on the board. Is that great service or what :D(y)
Anyway, she wrote that there was a small delay on the PB CD stock. The merch will be shipped today.

Well I still haven't received my order yet, but i have some info on framing. I talked to a couple framing specialists and both recommended a plexi instead of glass, because of the sheer size of the poster glass may easily break.. and i was recommended to go with a wood frame because again at that size of 8' X 1' the metal frame could easily bend. so a basic piano black thin wooden frame with the plexi, mounted and all labour costs included, expect to pay around $170-$200 (Canadian quote but pretty much on par with American these days). And that is about as cheap as your gunna get your poster framed, unless you go DIY, of course!

Paying 150-200 to get a 8' poster framed is a pretty reasonable quote.

I'm thinking it might be a little more. I've yet to go to a shop and see what the damage is going to be.

I didn't order my de-luxe bundle yet. I am hoping they aren't sold out on friday. I had a huge subway size poster framed from the CYH era. that SOB cost $300 to get framed. this is going to cost probably double that. (I know this is off topic, but I had to reply)

#330/400 :D:D:D:D

pics to follow shortly!

Thank you! the shirt is cooler than i thought, too.. it has a worn in look to it.. and no label, just Beastie Boys Large made in USA printed on the inside.. oh! and on the sleeve it says, (718) 498-1043 :D

i want to open the poster up but i'll wait till the framing place.. i can see it has about a 1" white border around the picture. peeking inside the tube i can see it is top notch quality all the way and it's on Fujicolor crystal archive paper. It was written by hand with a silver pen on the inside, 330/400.

I stopped at a Michael's store today. It's a national chain of arts/crafts/framing type stuff. They said the max size they can do is 80 inches. And an 80 inch frame would be about $240 with the metal frame and plexi-glass.

So there's a ballpark. There are another couple of frame shops nearby and I'm gonna try and stop by to get some quotes.

a framing place told me that metal might be a bad idea for the demensions of the poster, because it could bend easier.. we've got micheals in canada too but i haven't talked to them, but i will see after work what they say. we'll compare notes.. i think frame shops will be the best way to go

I stopped at a place called Fast Frames today and they quoted me $860...but they have a 50% off deal going on so it'd only be $430.

Jenny - let me know how your crafty work turns out.

I just got back from a framing place. Everyone who worked there was in awe of the poster. i never got a quote because the main guy who owns the place won't be there until monday.. lots of issues with this beast.. can't do a wood frame because the wood comes in 8' lengths only (you need to cut a couple inches from the ends to make the corners).. metal comes in 10' lengths so its no problem. they recommended plexi but said i'll be sorry in 6 months if i dont take care of it (plexi scratches easily).. anyways i'm gunna stick with these guys and go back monday to get it done.

one thing i wanted to say was from rolling up the poster there are tiny hair like scratches on the finish. they had to show me.. it was the first time it was opened so the fuji people or whoever did it from the edge of the poster... so they lined it up with tissue paper before very loosely rolling it up again for me. very proffessional there!.. just a heads up about the finishing and how easily it will scratch.

one more thing that i didn't realize.. it's numbered on the bottom right corner of the FRONT of the poster, so make sure your frame doesn't cover it up! good luck!

I have a poster in my hallway that is 4'x6' in plexi-glass, it's been through 3 moves and 10 years without nary a scratch... or if there is one I'm not seeing it, it just seems safer and lighter than glass, especially if your going to move a few times.

Thanks for the peice of mind, sounds like the best choice.. something i forgot to mention.. i was told not to let anyone mount it with the method involving heat.. they have a safe way of mounting which involves sticky stuff that you could remove if you ever needed to.. because the heat would damage the chemical coating on the front of the archive paper and also it would be stuck there forever

A Frame is OK,...if that's all you can afford that is. (LOL)

but if you're a real Baller you gotta have that shit cryogenically frozen in Liquid Nitrogen.

$5,000 a month, WHAT!

frames ain't Baller.

dirtydan11
03-23-2009, 05:48 PM
i would opt for the cryo if i could afford it, but $300 is alot of money for a guy like me lol.. i'm actually lucky it's gunna take 10 days for them to finish it :o

They just finally finished it. They had a hard time getting a 100" piece of glass appearantly. Anyways I went and looked at it and paid for it, but i'm not picking it up until next week, because i'm moving and i only want to move it once.
The thing is beautiful, even better than i thought. they did an incredible job.
I'll definately post pics after we move.
Anyone else have any luck framing?
