Seriously, why does this guy think he's cool? These quotes he gave to ABC Radio last night speak for themselves...

I'm Not Making This Up. Really.

by Abby Zimet

In an interview last night on ABC radio with Curtis Sliwa, RNC Chairman Michael Steele was even more astonishingly himself than usual.

On Bobby Jindal: "Some slum love out to my buddy...Gov. Bobby Jindal is doing a friggin' awesome job in his state. He's really turned around on some core principles – like hey, government ought not be corrupt. The good stuff..."

On the stimulus package: "There's a lot of bling bling – the bling bling's got bling bling in this package. That's how bad it is."

On the RNC's hip-hop strategy: "This party has got to take its head out of its you-know-what and recognize that America doesn't look like America in 1952. That America now is something very different, very beautiful – that it has a lot of strips and strains to it. But, it's real and we've got to get in the real."

Who ARE these people?

He was a joke in Maryland, and he's still a joke on the national stage. Although this "hip hop" bullshit he's spewing is brand new.

Seriously though, bling bling? What next, is he going to call Michelle a fly honey? It seriously reminds me of Dr. Evil. "I'm hip. I'm cool. Ducka ducka ducka ducka ducka ducka, heeey!"

i read that steele actually apologized to rush limbaugh the other day.

the first thing the republican party needs to do, in order to rebuild and regain any sort of semblance of credibility, is to sever all ties with blowhard douchebags like limbaugh.

Yeah, it's ridiculous how much the Republicans are giant pussies when it comes to Rush Limbaugh. Some Republican speaks up and says Rush Limbaugh's words and antics aren't helping, then there's uproar from Rush and his weirdo followers and next thing you know said Republican has to bend over backwards and kiss his giant fat drug addict ass and say they really didn't mean it or they were misinterpreted.

What Colbert said about the GOP and the Taliban is right. They BOTH take orders from leaders in caves who send poor quality videotapes to their followers. (y)

here's Steele's comment on Limbaugh, in context, during an
interview on DL Hughley, with Chuck D. @~6:00 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YSuawzkKpuM)

It's such an almost throw-away line, that you can barely hear, with Chuck D talking over it. But he obviously doesn't mean, "There are those out there who want to look at what [Limbaugh]'s saying as incendiary and divisive and ugly." as he says in his apology.

I do think people are jumping on Steele and strangely quoting him out of context. But he should expect that. He's the official RNC apologist.

What frightens me about this "hip-hop GOP makeover", he's blatantly going after a demographic for the Republicans, in the same way that they've gotten many union members to vote against their own best interests. If hip-hop means, as the misguided think, "I'm gonna get my money no matter who stands in my way." then the GOP should jump on that demographic.

my favorite part of the interview is when Steele says to Chuck D, "Many like yourself who came out of the projects."
