i don't know, i think its all lorne michaels. he's the person who put him on weekend update, which i would puke at everytime he laughed at his own jokes.

he was waaaaay low energy after the first ten minutes. it seemed like it suddently hit him that he has to do that every night. it got uncomfortable at the end there i thought.

I watched the first night and it's a sad day when Black Thought is funnier than Jimmy Fallon.

i really want to like him, but i dont think he's a good fit, he seems scared shitless. my tips for jimmy fallon:

!) try a little more straightfaced stuff a little.. stop laughing at spastically at everything anyone says. he's trying to endear everyone, but tone it down.

2) confidence. don't kiss the studio audience' ass, bully them a little.. i dunno, they should be in awe of you, not the other way around

3) stop with the product placement crap. its really obvious and kind of repulsive. its to unabashed and somewhat disctracting. some of the stuff looks obviously written for a sponsor, doesnt fit and obviously wouldnt be there if someone wasnt getting paid.

4) be excited about your guests. when he introduced morrisey, it was like he was introducing a bum off the street. and this is supposed to be the week he has really good guests, whats it gonna be like on a tough week

5) drink some beers before you go on

He's not leading the show, he's just being a part of it. Even with Leno (whom I can't stand) there's a sense that Leno is orchestrating things and keeping it all for the audience's benefit. When Tina Fey was on there I felt like I was the third wheel just watching. I know they're close, but Get a Room! Fallon just isn't very witty, he's not a stand-up comedian and I think those make the best talk show hosts. Jimmy Kimmel is the best and the quickest on the jokes. Didn't Fallon do a DeNiro impression in front of DeNiro? blah.

Then again, he's new to this. He needs experience. Then again again, he's always been that nervous and giggly.

And I'm sure Jon Bon Jovi wants more than anything to have some random chick sing his most overplayed songs to him. What was that about? I didn't watch the whole thing.

i think maybe she was trying to help him, talking about whats familiar to warm him up. but he wont be able to do that much anymore and it seems the like few guests he's had seem aware of his nervousness.

yeah he's always been like this, but i think i see him trying to restrain a few things. i think a lot of he problems have to do with him being nervous, anxiety and self-cosciousness is immobilizing. poor yimmy

from some of the stuff this week, he'll do alright once he gets used to things. you'd think that being there in front of the cameras after so long and right after conan.. it must feel surreal there sometimes. once things sink in he'll be alright i think. he's a good fit, he'll do ok - the world will keep turning(y)

BUT; I have started downloading and watching, just last week The Daily Show and The Colbert Report who are funny people. A bit too loud sometimes for my British tastes but funnier than any commentator I've seen on British TV. I like Jon Stewart the best out of the two.

Oh, I watched S06E01 (I think) the other week and thought it was rubbish, I didn't laugh once. I find a lot of american sitcoms very unfunny. I love their comedy animation though. I'm sure there has been but right now I cannot think of an american sitcom that I like.

But their drama and crime shows can be fudging excellent!
