View Full Version : I'm engaged.
Since my fiancee's bday is Feb 23, last year I wanted to take her out for a snowboarding weekend at a somewhat nearby ski resort, but since she started a new IT job (which required her to be on-call for weeks at a time) by the time we were able to go, the season was over. So, this year, I let her know that we were going to have a make-up getaway. The resort offers sleighrides (when I wanted to propose), but there wasn't enough natural snow, so we just snowboarded last Saturday and when we got back to the chalet, she wanted to take a nap before dinner. That's when I hunched down and did the damn thang. Pretty exciting shit.

Congrats
Was there a ring involved, or did you take the whole spontaneous, romantic, no time for a ring approach?

Yes, the ring was involved. Actually, I've had it since last October. She didn't want it to happen during the holidays, though. Too cheesy, you know, the whole Xmas dinner with the whole fam around the table, sporting a turtleneck, clanging the fork off the wine glass "Ahem, excuse me, everyone. I have an announcement to make" bullshit. So the next opportunity was this past weekend, since I wanted it to be private and an out-of-the-ordinary scenario. Here's the ring:

That's fucking beautiful.
I'm glad my wife wasn't peeping over my shoulder when I opened that window up.
Keep us posted on the date and all.

It's always been my dream to have the opportunity to be the guy who goes out in front of the entire church full of people and announce:
"I'm sorry everyone, but the groom has had a change of heart.
THERE WILL BE NO WEDDING TODAY.
Thank you all for coming, good day to you all"
I'm just sayin, if you need somebody to do that you'll be making one man's wish come true.
I figure if I save just one person from the biggest mistake a man can make, my existence will have meaning.
That offer's good for all the lesbos and fags in the house too who are thinking about a "Legal union". Makes no difference to me who I help.
