Well, I do think it's (starting) to pick up the pace now.
But I think it's pretty obvious why things got quiet after the election. Sheer exhaustion. Things got to a fever pitch leading up to the election that I felt too exhausted to post here with the same intensity as before. Sometimes you really just need to take a break. It's not that I stopped caring or stopped following all the developments. To the contrary, I still read a lot of news, I just didn't have the energy to get into constant debates.
Now I'm starting to emerge from my slumber, so I'm sure I'll have more to say. I do hope Documad comes back, though.

I think the whole reason I joined this sight was because of my utter repulsion at the thought of 4 more years of George W. Bush, the debate was interesting enough and the Beasties are sick.... if Kerry had won in '04, I have absolutely no doubt we would be at least half as fucked as we are now.
I am perpetually dumbfounded that the US has as many morons voting as we do. I mean George W. Bush got a second term? WTF?
So now we're sorting shit out and the president is working his ass off. Really this is unprecedented in the amount of time I've been here.

It's the quiet AFTER the storm.
also, being anti-Obama during the elections I think the fair thing to do is to give him a chance.
I mean he's been in office what, 40 days or so? He hasn't had a chance to really fuck it up too much yet. He's still changing a lot of the reprehensible Bush policies so there's not much to critique from my POV because I agree with a lot of those changes.
His economic policies thus far have been horrendous, but that's another thread for another day.
Don't worry Bionic, the honeymoon is almost over and I'll be back stirring the GP pot soon enough.

It's the quiet AFTER the storm.
That quiet is is the sound of somebody inheriting the biggest fucking financial nightmare ever created in the history of recorded time.
His economic policies thus far have been horrendous, but that's another thread for another day.
Horrendous? That is a pretty general statement, a Bobby Jindal sort of "off the cuff" remark. Nobody is completely happy when you spend billions of dollars, yet so far the major criticisms I've heard from economic gurus is the balance should be more to banks than to bankers. The general consensus is something must be done Immediately to free up the economy. And on that front the stimulus package is what all agree is a start in the correct direction.
If it fails, we all lose, you, our generation and future generations. When it succeeds, I am going to breath a breath of fresh air, smile and grin at the change all around me, pick up my guitar and play,
just like yesterday.
