Sal "the stockbroker" was on the Howard Stern wrap up show today. He was telling Beastie stories from '92 and '94. He was at that Roseland show in '92 and after party the after party.

He also told Stern about sneaking into the Randalls Island Lollapalooza '94 show dressed as a fed-ex guy to give Adrock a guitar he paid for with his own money. They also put one of his vegetarian recipies in an issue of Grand Royal.

He also was talking about the web site he did back in the day called "Beastie Revolution."

I'll have to catch it on the replay!

I know Sal was way into the Beasties and stuff but he does tend to embellish. So I take his stories with a grain of salt.

Sal has to be the most underrated talent on that show. He is hysterical. Anyone catch the show when he cited "Pauls Bow-tique" as the greatest Beastie Boys album? Howards all like, "its pronounced boutique you asshole." Classic, classic stuff.

Sal Governale was a huge part of the Beastie Boys boards on the now defunct Prodigy web service. When my family first got a computer in '94 with dialup I would spend hours reading those boards, this was about a week after IC came out. A lot of my current beastie knowledge came from his posts...he mailed me a copy of the Cleveland 1987 show recording. He would later denounce his admiration for the Beastie Boys to concentrate on Kiss, thus he began giving away his stuff to some kid from Floridan named Scott if I recall in a passing of the torch moment. Some of the board members looked up to him. I don't think too much of him now, since as pointed out he does embellish.

Here's a link to an article about Sal on TheSmokingGun.com.

There's a mention of Sal selling bootlegs of the Beastie Boys towards the bottom.

from howardstern.com

Howard played a clip from The Wrap-Up Show of Sal discussing he had once made himself president of the Beastie Boys fan club, "The Beastie Revolution." In the clip, Sal said he used to run a message board on the Prodigy online service. Under questioning, it came out that the fan club was only 30-members strong - and Sal was its "self-appointed" president.
Sal also confessed to once buying a guitar to give one of the Beastie Boys and how he then followed the guy back to his trailer. The crew all thought the story revealed how Sal honed his stalking skills on the Beasties before turning his attention to Howard. Sal disputed the idea, so Jason brought up the time Sal rifled through the show's release forms looking for Kiss guitarist Ace Frehley's phone number
