Because you're projecting.

None of the people I grew up with sound like gays. I've got a pretty deep voice myself.
Maybe you should stop hanging around the mid-west gay bars

I kind of know what he means. People like Kanye and Eminem definitely have a gay tinge to their voice.

Maybe its your use of the possessive where it does not belong.

"Its" is actually the possessive form of "it" (i.e. "The Dodo bird is known for its inability to fly").
"It's" is used in place of "it is" or "it has".
you meant "maybe it is your use of the possessive", but you used the possessive instead of the contraction.

More importantly than this, is why this area called the "Midwest"? I mean seriously, I know Americans are geographically challenged and all, but there is nothing "Western" about it.

when they named it, it was the mid-west. people took a while to really settle all of america.

Where exactly in the midwest are we talking? I'm originally from Indiana and my town is home to some menacing sounding motherfuckers.
But I might have a warped perspective because I am gay, but I am also a badass, so what exactly do you mean by sounding homo?

That's stupid.
What's next they'll have eleven football teams in a conference, but call it the Big Ten? Or live in the "Midwest" but their time zone is "eastern"?
Frickin' morons.

I think that people from the midwest actually prefer the term "the heartland".

he's probably talking about the Jamie Farr or Drew Carey accent.
Jamie Farr's my boy though. He's from Toledo. I still don't consider that to be mid-west though.

well the country originated on the east coast. so all the way to the west coast is the west. and mid way there, is the mid west. duh.

Being born and raised most of my life in Chicago, I have often wondered the same. To this day I don't have a clue about that.
