There are an unbelievable amount of really bad Army phrases that annoy me. Too many to list and you wouldn't understand them anyway, but you'd hate them if you knew.

My friend whom I've recently introduced to the Beastie Boys music now says random phrases from their songs. I'll be like you wanna go to taco bell and he'll be like I think I'll just stay here and pull a rambo.

"chin up"
I know people are just trying to help someone feel better but it makes me angry for some reason.
"simmer down"
I also hate that one a LOT, without a clear reason or explanation as to WHY I hate it.
^
I thought you would go with "hella".

it doesn't get to me anymore but I will DEFINITELY NOT be using it anytime soon. I hope not to, ever.

You know what I hate is when somebody fucks up common phrases. Like saying or writing "for all intensive purposes." What the hell is that even supposed to mean? The phrase is for all intents and purposes. You half-literate mouth-breather.
Also: "all of the sudden."

Maybe the purposes really are intensive.
I also hate "everything happens for a reason" which means nothing at all.
'It's not rocket science'
'at the end of the day'
fuck right off
I wonder if firework manufacturers working on a new firework are rocket scientists?
heh, I should get out more.
I really fucking hate the use of 'LOL'. Really fucking hate it, so much so I tried to get it banned when I was a leader in a the biggest guild on a server in WoW. I failed but I did kick anyone who also used the word 'rape' as something good. Like 'we just raped that dungeon'. In the same rant I tried to stop people using 'gay' as a bad word also and although I got people to reduce the usage of the word, I didn't get it banned. One out of three wasn't bad though, but the other leaders did see my point but we couldn't be too elitist.
heh, I should get out more.

'It's not rocket science'
I bet actual Rocket Scientists have a joke when something is actually quite hard (or easy) they'll say "oh come on, it's not Rocket Science, OH WAIT, IT ACTUALLY IS"
I know I would, and I'd do it all the time.

"Come on Dr Michaels, it's not Rocket Science!"
pop (my) cherry
I always thought that one was weird too. It just made me squirm a little.
And brain surgeons probably do the same thing.
My sister works in neurology and she says its more like Green Wing than it is Holby City.
^^maybe they are only brit shows, but Green Wing = Scrubs (if it was funny) and Holby City = ER (if was even shitter).

you guys remember The Cherry Poppin' Daddies? :(
the other day I said to cort, "I'll call you later so we can hook up and touch base" and then I puked on myself. "touch base" is horrible.
I hate the phrase, "know what I mean?" when it's said after something that is clear as day and would not be misunderstood. "oh man, I'm really hungry, know what I mean?" "um, yes, you're hungry?"
that's not a very good example, but you know what I mean.
Zoot Suit Riot.
I like Cherry Poppin Daddies. But the name is a shame.
edit:
before reluctantly deciding upon the intentionally provocative moniker of "Cherrypoppin' Daddies", taken from a line in a race record the members had heard. The name was never meant to insinuate or promote rape, incest or misogyny, but was rather a campy homage to the cartoonish risqué of the Dixieland recordings that had inspired them; as Perry put it, a sexy name that swings
edit #2: I didn't know they was still going. I also didn't know Zoot Suit Riot came out after furiously stoned - which I heard before the former and just thought I was catching up on their older stuff which I didn't like as much. Ok back to thread, sorry.
