One of my favorite times of year is here.

Chicago's south side has the best parade for St Patricks day.

It's the 15th of March on Western Ave as usual.

If you've got nothing going on and are in Chicago, check it out.

Madness can be quite fun.

I live like an hour away from Chicago. I'd go if I were right by Chicago. Sounds fun though.

I hate the SS Irish Parade...and so to the South Siders. It's all North side Cubs fans getting bused in and getting wasted in white Sox bars. I've been, it's no biggie but I'm not even Irish so F that noise.

I will be starting at the river at 8am this Saturday.

Wait, you hate south siders?? Or are you saying the south siders hate the south side parade??? You're going to the City Parade that's filled with South Siders???

I'm confused.

I was born and raised on the Northside, I don't hate southsiders (only the Sox)... I have been to the SS parade a few times, it was fun but really nothing to get all that excited about unless you are 19-23.

OMG, I'm aging myself.

I am going to one of the bars on the river to watch them dye it, then making my way back to the hood. It's madness by 10am everywhere, but I have to admit, I love day drinking.

Hope everyone enjoyed their Sunday as much as I did.

Still feeling it today though. Can't wait to get back to my couch and remote.

UGH!!!!

I've been going to the SouthSide parade since I was a kid. The past three years I've missed it becuase I was usally in FL. This year I was able to go. What an absolute blast.

Beastiegirrl101, what are you doing for St Patrick's Day?

I know the owners of Cheif O'neils pretty well, and they always have a good time. You should check it out. Yuppie NorthSider!! ;-)

I celebrated on Saturday. We started at the river and then made our way back up west to Southport.

Heading to my fun married friends house tomorrow for a traditional Irish dinner, although I don't know how much of it I will be able to eat....any good Irish veggie options I can bring??

At this point, my Irish tummy has had plenty of corn beef and cabbage to last me for the rest of my life. Its time for Irish cuisine to be reborn into hip and new. Like tacos.

Nice, I lived on Southport and Grace for the longest time. Right above a Thai place called Banana Leaf.

What about Soda bread??
If not, here's a website for ya.

Potato cakes look like your best bet.
