I love the new rule. It'll be nice to see people actually going for wins rather than finishing a steady 2nd or 3rd each race.

I predict good things for 2009

Lost interest in it completely.

Back when it was Mansell vs Senna it was about who could drive better. Now they change the rules every fucking year to handicap better drivers. EVERY. FUCKING. YEAR.

It's the equivalent of the F.A. saying "right, from now on, all football matches will be decided on first goal wins", then "from now on, all goalkeepers in the top four will have one hand tied behind their back in the first half" and then "right, from this point on, any goals scored are worth double, apart from on Saturdays when they aren't" or "from now on there will be a 39th game played in a foreign country (lol!)".

Its a fairly new sport. It still has to find its feet. Its only as old as TV really and who ever has the biggest wallets is who wins now. I know back in the day its about the race but technology has moved on so much that new rule changes have to be in place. Stick and ball sports have had plenty of time to find their way. In those terms, F1 is not even a teenage sport yet.

Hard to say.

It could make a champion half way through the season.

It will certainly do away with the past two years greatness in Brazil.

It will focus more on teams

We can forget about the chances of an underdog like Kubica ever getting the WDC.

How will people handle things like when Hamilton's win was taken away and given to Massa last year?

They screw with this shit so much, that Bernie's Circus is really lacking luster.

I still can't wait for Australia though.

GP racing started in the 20s. F1 started in the 40s. The WDC started in the 50s. Nothing really changed at all through those years.

Apart from people stopped watching with the current system, it had to change.

Like you say; its less than 100 years old. Football, cricket etc had hundreds of years to get the basics right and they still fuck with the rules now - although only tweaks I admit. F1 needs to finds its feet cus you know in 100 years time it'll be proper speedracer shit and by that time you need to have clue what is happening rules wise.

I take back what I say - F1 is becoming a joke even for a die-hard defender of it like me. It seems that they are U-turning on the scoring system.

Like I've said, I welcome the new rules cus I have faith they've thought about what they are doing before implementing them. I wasn't aware they just pull it out of their arse, announce it and then flush it away afterwards.

Pretty stupid rule. They could have changed the points' difference between 1st and 2nd places. Like, the 1st gains 150 points and the 2nd gains 30 points an then the rest scores nothing cause they dont deserve nothing because they suck.
