The movie, not the apocalyptic eradication of mankind.

I understand that the film itself is just one big orgy of absurdity, but if you can look past the ludicrous plot, the brazen glorification of American idealism, the idiotic dialog, the ridiculous notion that there could even be a "world's best oil driller", the nauseating romantic elements, the horribly unfunny comedic bits, the Coca-Cola commercial-style schmaltz, and the complete utter absence of logic, it can be somewhat entertaining.

Some choice parts:

"I, um, I lied to you, too, when I told you that I didn't wanna be like you, because I am like you. Everything good that I have inside of me I have from you."

"Requesting permission to shake the hand of the daughter of the bravest man I have ever known."

Grace: Baby, do you think its possible that anyone else in the world is doing this very same thing at this very same moment?
AJ: I hope so......otherwise, what the hell are we trying to save?

Harry: It's my turn now.
A.J.: Harry! Harry! You can't do this to me! It's my job!
Harry: You go take care of my little girl now. That's your job. Always thought of you as a son. Always. But, I'd be damn proud to have you marry Grace.
A.J.: [beginning to cry] Harry.
Harry: You take care of yourself. [pushes a button sending the hatch up]
A.J.: Harry, no!
Harry: I love you, boy.
A.J.: Harry, I love you! Don't Harry! Wait a minute! Harry, no!
Harry: Bye, son.

Harry: None of you have to go. We can all just sit here on Earth, wait for this big rock to crash into it, kill everything and everybody we know. United States government just asked us to save the world. Anybody wanna say no?

Chick: 20 years. Haven't turned you down once. Not about to start now. I'm there.

Hellzyeah, that's some seriously potent shit right there.

And the part where Paris is just completely wiped off the map. This is magic happening before your eyes.

I don't want to miss a thing. I love when Bruce Willis goes running around the oil rig shooting like yosemite sam. I saw this movie in the theater. Best all Aerosmith soundtrack movie I've ever seen. But why no Love in An Elevator, especially when there is a perfect scene for it?

Where Harry pulls AJ's air hose out and decides to stay behind to manually trigger the nuclear warhead himself?

I feel a little guilty whenever the movie is mentioned. I apparently "ruined it" for the friends I saw it with. It was so god awful that I made fun of it while we were watching it at the theater. I thought it was hilarious. There was no one else around us and my friends never acted liked I was bugging them. After it was over the two of them said that they thought it was a quality movie and I had ruined it for them. One of them later bought it on VHS and made a point of telling me.

I get a lot of crap for that. Laughing at my wife's shows, movies etc.

"It's not funny!"

"Yes it is - did you hear what they just said?"

I think she's planning on watching 'Twilight' again without me. Should've been the plan in the first place.

Oh, I didn't realize we were only allowed to talk about current/relevant topics that could be of some significance to us in our present day lives. I'm sorry that I don't have anything more cutting edge to offer. I don't get to experience the world the same way that you do. I'm a prisoner of my own ignorance. Up until last week, I hadn't even seen a smart car. I thought I was dreaming. I still carry my money in my sock. My trousers have 6 pleats on each side. I just called my pants trousers. Do you see what I'm working with here?

Guess I won't post my To The 5 Boroughs review after all.

He was driving balls at those pesky Greenpeace people. The film paints them in a very favorable light.

The pure cheese of this film is brilliant.

Favorite parts are Buscemi's declaration 'No nukes! No nukes' and the moving drama of Captain Willy Sharp's in depth medical assessment

' My God, he's got... space dementia'

Duh duh duuuuuh!

I thought this was going to be about the real armageddon. time to turn off the sabbath and turn on the sex and the city! I've timed it almost perfectly, Iron Man will finish when the show comes back from commercial.

anyway, I didn't like the movie enough to remember what happens. I remember it being fun to watch and laugh at though.

shit, it's the first episode. yuck.

I just saw it again for the first time in many years. I was fascinated with how such a terrible movie could have such enduring appeal to me. I made a thread about it. I don't have a better explanation.

I can't believe we've looked past the subtle nuances of Eddie Griffin's opening scene where he comments "SOMEBODY CALL 911!" as the world changes forever.

Armageddon, I barely remember this movie but the part where Hunter Patch says, " We need to start treating the patient as well as the disease" always gets me.

I didn't find anything corny about this movie, it is a beautiful story.

I've never seen this film or ever will probably but if it's not then that fucking Morrissey song 'Everyday is like Sunday' would be good for it cos he says 'Come armageddon come' in it.You could have Bruce Willis masturbating over Liv Tyler nip slip J-pegs on his computer screen(y)
