why and how did the word 'the' become 'tha'

in the newer generations txt-speak? you're still typing out three letters. why wouldn't you just spell correctly instead of looking like a complete illllllliterate....???

also, when texting - if everyone is so into keeping it short - why do some of you type okay instead of ok?

I confess I like "NBD". no big deal. I say it in real life.

I try to avoid LOL unless I really am laughing out loud.

I write "okay" because I don't like how "ok" looks.

generally I avoid abbreviations in texts unless I truly am in a hurry.
