I stopped watching many years ago when they decided that you have to pay to see it live on tv.

I don't have a TV and I've always managed to find a live stream. Plus I think its on the [so called] free channels in the UK

from what's coming out of mclaren, lewis hamilton has got more chance of being on the next pussycat dolls record than retaining the title.

my money is on the fin in the ferrari, i know they will be pushing massa but i reckon kimi will be more consistent, he had some bad luck last season

Adam
03-27-2009, 04:17 AM
I voted Massa cus I think he will. But I really like Kimi, he just seems in control of what he does and its always outside forces which stop him from winning more.

I do think it'll be the first of the european GPs until we start to have a clue who will be the contenders this season

What's coming out of mclaren?

Hamilton was 18th in 2nd Practice. Also, he was overheard on the radio (should of been private) that he can't see breaking points cus the car is too low.

It'll be between Raikkonen and Massa, I'm leaning toward Kimi, though. I just like him better than Massa. So Ferrari for constructors as well.

Oh, and I hope Ecclestone dies in a fiery shitball of doom

Another vote for Kimi.

I stayed up to watch practice last night. The cars are taking some getting used to for me. Just odd looking.

Qualies should be interesting. Go Ferrari!!!

Jenson Button on poll???!?!?! And Barrichello 2nd? Is Brawn really that good? Or has he cheated and paid of the timer guys.

NoFenders
03-28-2009, 10:15 AM
lol You sure would think so.

What a great effort from Brawn. Most are saying it's due to the areo works done to the bottom of the car. Some sort of diffusser under the lower rear. Adds more downforce to the rear that has been taken off from the new rule change with the wings. There's like three teams that run that set up, and Brawn took it and ran with it.

They're giving us fuel data now (which is sweet) so we know howm many laps of fuel everyone has. Here's a taste.
Button and Rubens : 22 to 23 laps of fuel
Vettel and Nico : 20 laps of fuel
Ferrari : 18 laps of fuel

Doesn't look good for Ferrari. We'll see if Brawn's engines don't grenade though.

Can't wait for the start!!

Adam
03-29-2009, 01:53 AM
It actually started an hour earlier than I thought, lucky I couldn't sleep so I caught it from about the 3rd lap.

Holy shit - just realised the clocks went forward!

edit: Brawn first & second!!! Maybe I should edit my poll

definately an unexpected result if we were talking about this event 3 months ago. who woulda thought a brand new team would kill qualifying as well as the race. i saw the betting odds before practice started and it showed Button at the top (lowest odds) and thought 'that can't be right?'. sir dick branson certainly is having the last laugh now. cunt never puts a foot wrong.

either way it was fairly ordinary race. no huge standouts. kubica+vettel crash at the end was a bit  but other than that, melbourne isn't the most exciting tracks out. it's more about the atmosphere and backdrop.

go kimi (for the rest of the year)

Massa looked pissed off when he was back in the garage. I'm going for Massa this year. However I think Button deserved that win, he has been a promising and talented driver for quite a few years now and Honda has given him such a shit car for the last few years and his talent has been wasted.

Now that he's in a car that compliments his talent, there may be no stopping him!

call me cynical but i reckon brawn have got the big boys back up by winning early on, i reckon there will be some sort of backlash/dispute where brawn end up getting penailsed for something ferrari or whoever object to at some point this season.

When Honda quit, they had already had a 2009 car that they have been building for 2 years. Also, they gave back office (and I still think are) services to offer a major support to the new team. Gotta give Honda some credit for that. And obviously some1 like Brawn has the best contacts in the sport, has two experienced drivers who didn't have a job a few months ago so they'll be up for it to.

Well, there's the whole diffuser debate. Although Brawn's cars looked more legal in that area than the other teams who used them. The grey area in F1 rules should be used and taken advantage of. Good on Brawn to be the genius he is to pull that far ahead of the field. I mean, nobody had a chance to catch Button. If Rubens had a better start, he'd have kept 2nd place as well. Him finishing 2nd was a gift from Kubica and Vettel knocking each other out, which I think, was certainly Kubica's fault. Sebastian left all the room he could , but Robert closed the door on'im.

All in all I thought it was a good race. No points for Ferrari sucks ass (I bet Massa's KERS system went out), and Hamilton finsihing on the podium makes me cringe even more. But seeing Brawn in a one two finish was well worth staying up til 3:30AM.

Now Malaysia this week! What's very interesting about this season is there's no more practice for any teams. So if anyone like Ferrari or McLaren want to try a diffuser, they'll have to see what it does on GP weekend. That could leave a lot of room for Button to win every race before the Euro leg of the sched. I know it's only one race in, but this may be Button's best shot at a Championship.

She should have a job with the FIA. These guys are getting worse by the race. Same thing when Kazu hit the wall. Safety car comes out, and they have no clue as to who is running where on track. They start waving people past the Safety Car and Massa comes by again and puts his hands up (to say, where do you want me?). They had no idea. It took another two laps under SC to figure it out.

These guys and their after GP decisions are getting old.

I hope this doesnt set a precedent for every fuckin contentious decision to be deliberated, and have claims and counter claims days after each race.

might as well have a fucking phone vote to decide it.

He has been fined because he has been proved that he lied after the race - twice all to get Trulli penalised which is very underhanded and far from sporting. Dave Ryan, McLaren's sporting director has been suspended by the team. I don't think Hamilton will be winning any PR awards this year. It'll be shame if he gets kicked out of this years Championship though - the sport always needs an anti-hero.

BBPPPPBBButton!

If anyone gets hammered for these diffusers, it's gotta be Toyota. They're the top on the list as far as legal concerns with their diffuser. Brawn looks the most legal of the bunch. It looks in no way to be illegal. He's a genius like that.

Ross Brawn is a cunt, he just has one of those faces you want to punch.

I headed down to Melbourne this year, good to see Jensen finally win properly without having to rely on the Steve Bradbury method. JV's gotta be pissed to see the old Honda dominating so far this season

funniest thing i've seen at albert park was seeing button's car blow up on the main straight in 2006 on the final lap.:D

I'm going for Vettel to cause a few upsets this year. Put him in a decent car and he's a future champion

So a break away by some teams from F1. I can't see it happening but if it does I think the death of F1 is on us and I also can't see the break away doing anything either. Any1 remember A1 racing? Is that still going?

Politics and sport never mix, but if this ain't settled soon, all I can see is the sport being dissolved and when there is a supply of money again in the world, the series starting up again by some billionaire who really misses it. Even I am losing interest in it and I'm one of the major fans of the sport

Still waiting to see the final details (which should come soon) as far as where F1 is heading. Looks a little weird right now. We'll see.

Adam

I can actually see it going either way. It obviously ain't working in its current format. Its a proper capitalist sport. But the soap opera running it has completely forgot they run a sport.

I don't want to see a Ferrari run sport that is for sure and if they head a break away, it seems to me that is what we'll get - as it'll just be the highest bidder wins the race. But Max and Bern need to also let go of some of there power because its corrupt in its current form.

I don't actually know many of the details - like you say, they are still coming out and I haven't read or seen anything on the sport since today for over a month. But I'm more mourning the loss of the sport than knowing what the fuck is going on...

Why would you do that? You survive the best part of 40 years driving faster and faster cars, and then when a suspension spring rips somebody's eye out, you jump at the chance to replace him.

If anything it should make Michael glad he's still not racing.
